Position Title : Chief Information Officer (Sr. Vice President)  Function : Information Technology  Primary Reporting : Chairman  I. Position Summary :  Directs strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation and coordination of information system activities including system design, programming, establishing procedures, and operation and maintenance of the Company's IT infrastructure, evaluation and coordination of outsourcing activities.   II. Job Duties and Responsibilities  STRATEGIC PLANNING AND POLICY MAKING  - Directs and coordinates strategic and operational plans for meeting current and future information and technology needs for the Company   - Directs and maintains enterprise systems architecture; defines standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software and interconnection of information systems.  - Develops and enforces policy and procedures to ensure the protection of enterprise IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy of information entrusted to or maintained by the enterprise  IT INFRASTRUCTURE & APPLICATION SUPPORT  - Develops and ensures optimum manning of the organization structure for IT department to support the information needs of the Company  - Evaluates and approves Application Development Projects for various application domains (viz., SCM, HR etc) and IT acquisition contracts  - Directs implementation of continuous improvements in the existing applications to achieve higher productivity and efficiency for internal and external users  BUDGET  - Creates and manages the IT budgets for CAPEX and OPEX to ensure adherence to it  SELF DEVELOPMENT  - Keeps abreast of the technological changes and innovations in the information systems field through professional contacts, industry associations, technology vendors and journals.  - Manages the performance of the team - sets annual performance goals, monitors performance and provides constructive feedback to improve performance.   - Identifies their training and development needs and ensures their fulfilment  - Develops and mentors subordinates to move to the next higher level of job. Develops career plans.  - Ensures compliance to Company policies and values  III. Internal & External Coordination :  Contact Details  Internal - Directors/ Top Management - Interacts to decide upon strategic and operational plans for the IT department, aligned with overall business strategy of the organisation   - Business Teams - Interacts for understanding infrastructure requirements, identification for applications to be developed and providing necessary support  - Corporate HR - Interacts on HR issues (e.g. recruitment, training, deployment, performance/consequence management, disciplinary actions, etc.)  - Accounts - Interacts with for clearance of vendor payments  External - Industry Associations - Interacts with industry associations to keep abreast of technological changes and innovations  - Vendors/ Consultants - Interacts with vendors/consultants for evaluating solutions, negotiating contracts and determining service level agreements   - Negotiates for timely procurement of critical high value hardware and software  IV. Job Requirements  Work Experience : 17 to 20 years, with at least 8 to 9 years of direct management experience of a major IT operation.  Qualifications : Graduate/Post Graduate in Computer Sciences (B.E, B.Tech., M.E., M.Tech), MBA
