Job Summary
The Senior Sales manager is responsible for leading sales efforts in a designated region or market segment, driving business growth through effective territory management, strong customer relationships, and execution of sales strategies. This role involves meeting sales targets, managing key accounts, supervising junior sales staff (if any), and acting as a bridge between the company and its customers or distribution partners. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the market, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Target Achievement:
- Identify and tap into new market opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients or distribution partners.
- Expand market presence by introducing new products and building strong relationships.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, retailers, and distributors.
- Resolve customer issues, complaints, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
Channel & Distribution Management:
- Oversee and manage a network of distributors and retailers.
- Ensure proper coverage, stock availability, and timely delivery of products.
- Coordinate with the supply chain to ensure smooth operations and reduce stockouts.
Promotional Activities & Brand Visibility:
- Implement trade marketing and promotional strategies in line with company objectives.
- Ensure proper merchandising and visibility of products at retail outlets.
- Participate in product launches, exhibitions, and promotional campaigns.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and market dynamics.
- Share regular feedback with the management team to support strategic decisions.
Team Collaboration & Mentoring:
- Coordinate with internal departments such as marketing, logistics, and finance.
- Mentor and guide junior sales manager or field staff (if applicable).
Territory Planning:
- Plan and organize daily travel routes and customer visits.
- Ensure effective time management and maximize customer engagement.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and trends to make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and adaptable to dynamic environments.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors /master's degree
- 7-8 years of experience in FMCG MT (Modern Trade) Channel
