Senior/Principal Catastrophe Engineer - CAT Modeler - AIR/RM - Consulting Firm (5-7 yrs)

Your primary role will be to lead functional teams in conducting in-depth evaluation of vendor and other CAT models and platforms, researching into and developing internal views of modeled and non-modeled risks, conducting account-specific risk analyses, conducting detailed site-specific risk assessments including engineering analyses and site-inspections, developing internal tools to facilitate account underwriting decision-making, and other related activities.

Essential Job Functions :

- Evaluation of vendor (AIR / RMS) CAT models and other models and platforms; research into modeled and non-modeled risks; development of internal CAT models and tools

- Conducting account and property-specific risk analyses including probabilistic assessment of seismic, wind, and flood risk emphasizing the interplay between site-inspections (exposure characteristics), engineering analyses, and hazard analyses

- Critical analysis of AIR / RMS models- account and portfolio level loss results

- Providing technical support and training to internal clients; external client interaction

- Research into property damage following CAT events to inform internal views of risk

- Conducting real-time loss analyses to estimate loss to company portfolio

- Analyze impact of model and software changes on portfolio; explain drivers of loss change

- Support India operations in account modeling; development of modeling guidelines

- Contribute in all aspects of catastrophe analytics, research, modeling, and engineering

Requirements :

- Master's or Ph.D. in Meteorology, Hydrology, Engineering Seismology, Structural Engineering (emphasis Earthquake or Wind) or related field

- 5+ years- experience in engineering, applied research, or CAT modeling

- Engineering license or equivalent

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Skilled in critical thinking and analysis

- Highly motivated, detail oriented, and team player

- Strong programming skills (C++, MATLAB, GIS, others) is a plus
