Senior Manager - Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs - Telecom (10-15 yrs)

Position summary (Key requirements/Purpose of the job) :


- Candidate should have knowledge of telecommunications, licensing, compliances, reporting requirements and functioning of telecom infrastructure/ network elements with minimum 10-12 years of work experience in ICT sector and familiars with Telecom - Network and Enterprise Services aspects and various policy issues which may impact the business / Industry in India and SAARC countries.


- Coordination with internal stakeholders (Product, Finance, Networks etc.) for various regulatory and policy issues; timely prepare policy documents on various issues for advocacy work, sharing business intelligence for effective business decisions


- Representing the company and interacting with various Government Organizations like DoT, TRAI, etc. for policy and regulatory advocacy; excellent relationships with with Government Officials at various levels


- Candidate should also have hands on experience in compliances monitoring and implementation. Time management and smart & multitask working is essential for this role.

- Creating new resources and relationships for managing the advocacy works; Monitoring the progress of various issues in DoT, TRAI, MIB & Other Govt. Organizations and taking corrective action in case of adversity and representing the organization view point in various Government/non-Government Forums/Organizations.


- Preparation of response to various TRAI / DoT Consultation Papers and Regulatory position papers and advising various Business Units in respect of regulatory submissions to DoT/ TRAI.

Major Responsibilities:

- Prepare responses to Policy Consultation Papers and DoT/TRAI notices, representation to DoT/TRAI on various ongoing issues in a time bound manner

- Interacting with DoT, WPC, TRAI, MIB, DOS, MHA, Designated Security Agencies for expediting the approvals wherever required.

- Monitoring the progress of regulatory and policy issues and advise appropriate steps wherever required basis business intelligence; Protecting the interest of the company in DoT, TRAI and other relevant Ministries / Deparetments.

- Interface with Internal stakeholders and would be responsible for various regulatory and policy issues raised by these stakeholders.

- Guiding the internal team on various regulatory updates, license amendments, regulations etc. for implementation of the same within organization and coordination internally within Regulatory for compliance.

- Timely resolutions of the query/questions of Internal stakeholders on policy issues and provide interpretation of License and other related guidelines

- Preparation of draft representations to represent company on various regulatory and policy issues before TRAI, DoT.

- Excellent Working Relationship with Govt. offices /DoT LSA field units and would also be responsible for supporting internal customers for any external help from LSAs/DoT/WPC/TRAI.

- Handling Regulatory Policy Raodmap and Dashboards and responsible for reflecting policy inputs for Management Decision.

Qualification-Necessary Requirement:

- Specialization in Management, Public Relationship and knowledge in the domain of policy and regulation for the Telecom sector preferably having techno-regulatory expertise in the Telecom domain.


- In-dept understanding of technical and regulatory issues involving services provided under telecom licenses, Machine to Machine (M2M) communication, Contact centre Services and other cloud based services.


- Adept in drafting responses to TRAI consultation papers, representations on behalf of company to various authorities and good oral and written communication skills.

- MBA or Law graduate with technical qualification preferably having higher qualification in telecommunications field.
