Sr manager/manager research (IT securities)

You will consistently demonstrate strong research skills primarily focusing on security technology topics including application security, infrastructure security, identity management, data protection, cloud security and mobile security.

Key Responsibilities include :

- Perform secondary research focusing on security topics utilizing a number of sources, internal and external, paper and electronic, including web-based and online databases.

- Assist with supporting Operations research needs in the areas of security other IT topics that require support.

- Synthesize, package and present secondary research findings according to the needs of the customer.

- Provide support to consultants and local research team in the use of internal and external resources, information sources and services.

- Conduct in-depth reference interviews with customer to identify key questions to be addressed and the nature and purpose of the deliverable.

- Prepare budget estimates for research projects and ensure project budget constraints and project record keeping requirements are observed.

- Develop relationships with company executives and market secondary research services to those executives, both orally and through written communication

- Identify new sources of relevant content and contribute to evaluations of external content for acquisition.

- Development of security topic expertise and knowledge as well as deep understanding of relevant specialty sources.

- Actively participate in general secondary research responsibilities e.g. participating in Research workgroups at local, regional or global level etc.

Hard Skills :

- Solid experience in secondary research and information retrieval methods and techniques

- Solid experience in packaging, synthesizing and presenting research deliverables

- Knowledge of two or more core security segments i.e. application security, identity management, data protection, infrastructure security, cloud security, mobile security, incidence response, etc. By - knowledge- we mean understanding of major segment trends, market size, competitors, technology, etc.

- Awareness of emerging security technologies

- Critical thinking- ability to quickly grasp complex and unfamiliar subjects

- Strong PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills

- Good written and oral communications skills, including the ability to understand and clearly define research requirements and expectations of the customer

- Understanding of business and economics issues at large

- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately

- Ability to work independently and share status updates on work progress

Soft Skills :

- Enthusiasm to work effectively in global, multi-cultural, multi-time zone team (Europe, LATAM, South Africa, India, China and U.S.A.)

Additional Information :

Supervises : At first not applicable, but based on personal competencies demonstrated, there could be a role supervising analyst(s) in the team.

External Relationships : Awareness of external Subject Matter Experts, information providers/brokers/sources is required, and membership in a relevant professional society would be a plus.

Qualifications/Education : Bachelor's Degree in Information Studies or Computer Science, Business Administration, a bachelor's degree in cyber security or computer networks and security is also a plus. A full-time post-graduate degree/qualification preferably MBA/PGDM.

Work Experience :

- Minimum of 6+ (max 9 years) years of business and competitor research experience, preferably in a consulting or IT services environment, IT industry analyst firm, equity brokerage, communications provider or high tech industry, or demonstrated equivalent skill.

- Work experience collaborating in a team of research professionals, coaching of team members would be a plus.

- Working with senior executive customers, who are the high end users of the research output.

- Experience of writing reports, and presentation slides for delivery to internal and external audience

- Experience with alternative modes of research delivery/data visualization tools also a plus (e.g., Tableau etc.)
