Job Description

The Legal Team at Bengaluru, is looking for an in-house legal counsel in a leadership role. To be successful in the role, a candidate must be able

- To develop, create, and maintain policies and processes for an overall legal, compliance and regulatory affairs of the company at a pan India level.

- To lead people and a team within the company

- To work cross-functionally and proactively to plan, direct, and drive operations to accomplish short- and long-term goals.

- To provide support on various aspects to business on legal & compliance issues

- To negotiate high level contracts of various types

- To strategize and provide guidance for high claim legal disputes

- To generally advise on all legal matters concerning various business functions across the company including technical, operational, compliance and HR

Responsibilities -

1. Participate actively in strategy meetings and provide support on legal and compliance issues.

2. Provide updates and advise on changes in legal and compliance landscape particularly impacting the business of the company

3. Recommend sustainable and necessary changes within the company to maintain industry standards in legal and corporate governance

4. Ensure risk mitigation and advise on possible legal issues in transactions

5. Support the HR in employee related issues, generally ensure development of policies for legal functions within the company

6. Institutionalizing best practices for litigation and documentation management with an objective to increase efficiencies.

7. Ensure speedy response and resolution of issues to business stakeholders

8. Drafting and reviewing various corporate agreements, frame contracts and other legal documents in collaboration with relevant business managers.

9. Anticipating and identifying legal issues of concern to the organization and proactively developing practical solutions.

10. Research into new laws, regulations and developing legal jurisprudence which may affect the business and advise on risks and mitigation strategies.

11. Conducting training sessions for business stakeholders.

12. Participating in global initiatives run by Central Legal function.

13. Ensuring adherence to all applicable statutory compliances.

14. Initiating cross functional efforts to drive organizational alignment.

15. Developing professional relationships with law firms, senior counsels, and consultants for strengthening legal capabilities.

Qualifications

- Experience; preferably a mix of law firm & inhouse counsel

- Experience of working with a MNC is preferred.

- Exposure to interactions with senior management teams.
