Regional Indirect Tax Sr Manager APAC


Reports to : Director Global Indirect Tax


- The successful candidate will become part of the Global Indirect Tax team which is responsible for all Indirect Tax obligations of the employer. The overall purpose of this role is to manage a team of Indirect Tax specialists which is responsible for several Indirect Tax registrations with all related reporting obligations in the APAC region. 


- The successful candidate will act as regional Indirect Tax contact for internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the regional lead will be responsible for Indirect Tax process and planning improvements throughout the APAC region.

- Indirect tax oversight expanded to countries beyond India

- Competency in assessing impact of regulatory changes on tax initiatives

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Act as regional Indirect Tax contact (business partner) and resident expert in providing technical guidance on indirect tax matters within the region

2. Lead, motivate and develop a team of Indirect Tax specialists

3. Responsible for leading the preparation of indirect tax filing for Asia Pacific region, coordinating with all relevant parties to ensure completion of timely and accurate indirect tax filings including 3rd party service provider

4. Manage and responsible for Indirect Tax audits

5. Keeping up with latest (legal / compliance) Indirect Tax developments within the APAC region

6. Data quality improvement

7. Cash flow management and optimization

8. Manage the Indirect Tax work for business projects in the APAC region

9. Identify and manage potential Indirect Tax risks

10. Partner with members of the Regional Leadership team and the Global Indirect Tax team to ensure full alignment

11. Promptly respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholders, including auditors

12. Maintain required documentation

13. Work very close with specific areas legal, Accounting, Direct Tax, manufacturing, logistics. Additionally, have a sense of understanding the business dynamic and it's implication for indirect tax

14. Develop a good governance for indirect tax areas and review and implement changes/improvements in the process

15. Follow up on VAT credits and look for alternatives to compensate / use the credits

Knowledge (Education and Complementary Courses) :

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or another business-related field

- MBA a plus

- CTA qualification or equivalent is a plus

- MS-Office, SAP experience

- Experience in managing other APAC countries besides India

Seniority/Experience :

- 8+ years of relevant experience within an indirect tax function of an advisory firm or a multinational corporation preferred

- Strong Indirect Tax Knowledge

- Experience in managing indirect taxes not only in India but in other APAC countries as well

- Ability to learn quickly and to work flexibly in a fast-paced team context is necessary.

- Candidate must have a self-motivation to lead a regional team.

- CTA or local equivalent preferred

Language(s) : English required

- Mobility to travel

- Proven, excellent interaction skills with management/executive presence

- Can do- mentality

Systems :

- Must be proficient in Microsoft product suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Knowledge of SAP is required.
