Senior Engagement Manager


- The organization is a collective working to identify critical sectors that need investment, drive funding towards climate solutions, and enable private and corporate philanthropy to engage more effectively with climate action.


- They work closely with the climate ecosystem, including research organizations, implementers, government stakeholders, businesses, and more, as well as engage with our domestic and international donor base to ensure that funding flows towards high-impact climate solutions.

- The organization was founded by some of India's pre-eminent corporate and philanthropic leaders, including Rohini Nilekani, Ratan Tata, Anand Mahindra, Nadir Godrej, and others.

Role :

- The organization seeks a full-time Senior Engagement Manager to grow the organization's community and solve complex challenges through strategic philanthropy.


- This person will serve as an internal and external bridge between members of the team, funders, and core partners.


- They will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining relationships with the organization's funders and ensuring their reporting requirements are met.


- They should be good at establishing and improving systems, enjoy working with people and fundraising, and have a broad understanding of the climate sector.

This role will report to the Head - Engagement, Strategy and Operations, and will have the following responsibilities :

1. Donor engagement and narrative building for the organization (40%):

- Help retain, engage and develop the organization's donors across all its verticals.

- Ensure effective fund utilization based on the organization's objectives and key metrics agreed on with funders.

- Meet reporting requirements for existing donors and update them on key events at the organization.

- Develop materials (memos, presentations, talking points) and present updates and new projects to the organizations' donors and key stakeholders.

- Work cross-functionally across the organization's verticals to coordinate where funds are required and how they're being utilized.

2. Strategy development and implementation (40%):

- Develop new and effective engagement strategies to maximize the impact of donor interactions and drive long term engagement aligned to the organization's goals. These may include calendarized events and convenings, quarterly check-ins etc.

- Develop and maintain key metrics to track our donor engagement, and the organization's fundraising goals overall.

- Lead the implementation of grant and donor management software (like Salesforce) to drive efficiency across the organization.

3. Special projects for the Chief Executive Officer (20%):

- The organization is often invited to co-host and curate global events with large climate philanthropies. The Sr. Engagement Manager will work closely with the CEO and the organization's Leadership to strategically plan how the organization is positioned at these events and to ensure that our objectives are met.

- Support the CEO with institutional fundraising, and follow-up on high-level meetings.

Key criteria for selection:

- 8-10 years of experience in consulting, business development, marketing or as an entrepreneur.


- Experience in the development sector or working at/with a philanthropy will be given preference.

- A high-level understanding of climate change is desired, with a willingness to learn.

- Strong interpersonal skills, and experience in partnership management and building donor relationships.

- Comfortable working with minimum supervision, and capable of building strategies as well as project-managing.

- A demonstrated record of effective communication (both written and verbal).

- Ability to manage competing deadlines, process information from multiple sources, and compile and articulate in a presentable manner.

- Be a self-starter, flexible and comfortable in the grey to fill gaps in the organization, ready to support where required.

- At ease when confronted with tight deadlines.

- Previous experience of managing teams.

- Experience with grant management systems and CRM platforms is desired.

- Familiar with start-up work culture.

- Passionate about climate action and theory of change

Additional criteria (preferred, not mandatory) :

- Existing foundation and donor networks, and experience in fundraising for a non- profit.

- Climate sector experience.
