Sr. Manager BI & DW

Job Description :

The role holder is expected to deliver end to end, the projects in the Data and MIS domain. He/she will collaborate with senior business leaders to determine and prioritize immediate requirements, and anticipate future Data pipelines and architecture, MIS and critical ad-hoc requests to ensure high quality delivery. This position would entail functional and technical management and people management responsibility of leading 3-6 FTEs.

Principal Responsibilities :

1. Business Analysis and Business Partnership :

- Partner with business partners to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements and translate business requirements into BI requirements

- Work with executive and senior leaders to create and maintain a development pipeline and roadmap for BI

- Partner with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing

- Document user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures

- Improve BI capability and drive BI adoption in the organization.

2. Project Management :

- Define and create project plans for BI delivery

- Evaluate and balance trade-offs between project size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value

- Coordinate the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget

- Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria

- Build, lead, and coach multiple project teams throughout project lifecycles

- Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of BI projects

- Assess and resolve all high priority project risks as they are encountered

- Ensure all projects adhere to project methodology compliance standards set by the company

- Continually update relevant business stake holder of project status

- Ensure all projects meet success parameters and ROI targets stated in business case

3. Team Management :

- Manage a team of Technical analysts and experts from within IT & Service Partners, guiding them on solutioning, architecture, modelling techniques, approaches & methodologies to ensure successful delivery

- Goal Setting of Direct Reports, Managing Development of Direct Reports and Coaching/Mentoring of Direct Reports.

- Ensuring the proper Rewards and Recognition of Direct and Indirect Reports along with Career Planning for them.

4. Vendor Management :

- Based on engagement, conduct meetings with vendor for technology evaluation, Cost Negotiations, assess vendor capability & Project Progress Reviews.

- Conduct vendor evaluation/on-boarding for new projects

- Define, Monitor and control SLAs with vendor

- Manage on-site staff of vendor

5 .BI Application, Technology, and Infrastructure Management :

- Ensure high availability, DR, IT security & Standards for BI system

- Ensure User Issues/Complaints/Bugs are addressed in timely manner

- Identify areas of improvement in existing and new solutions

- Review current technology, Plan release/upgrade cycles and ensure on-time quality deployments

- Collaborate with Information Security team to deliver solutions adhering to security standards

Requirements :

- Have in-depth business knowledge across a breadth of functional areas within FMCG / Manufacturing business

- Be proficient in evaluating business requirements and converting them into BI requirements

- Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally

- Strong track record of managing and leading medium to large teams

- Exceptionally strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills

- Provide functional and technical leadership to ensure execution of BI projects as per the agreed timelines and with accuracy and quality from the teams

- Help build the right data architecture, develop data marts, warehouses using Azure Data Factory ETL technology and building reporting framework and end user information delivery applications using Microsoft Power BI

- Perform vendor evaluations, manage vendor performance

- Manage projects/sprints and small working groups towards delivery of MIS and data pipelines

- Manage senior stakeholders and prioritize effectively between urgent and strategically important projects.

Qualifications and Work Experience :

- B.Tech in Computer Science/ MBA ( preferred)

- At least 9-10 years of Data Architecture and MIS Experience focused primarily in the FMCG Domain

- Knowledge of tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL DW, Azure Analysis Services, MS Power BI, SAP BO

- Knowledge and experience in building data warehouse/data lake/distributed data architecture, Power BI data sets and Power BI reports and dashboards.
