Role Context: Work as a senior leader within the Digital Sales Experience Division, to attract & activate customers through Digital Channels, as well as define and develop sales & engagement strategies across all channels. Key Accountabilities - Defining / driving the engineering landscape for Digital Sales Experience (DSE) Collaborating on a direction of our common platforms - code repositories, continuous integration tools, continuous deployment suites - defining the roadmaps and operational discipline. - Being fluent and an expert in many common technologies. - Cultivating an extended team of distinguished engineers including defining leadership roles and career paths for engineers. - Interfacing directly with business and audit and negotiating positive technology outcomes/trade-offs on tactical vs. strategic approaches. - Driving technology adoption within the business, identifying redundant bureaucracy, and working with the technology leadership team to remediate. - Reporting line-manager for multiple engineers. The individual in this role should have: - Strong commercial acumen. Understand the typical cost and efficiency challenges in large organisations and have a passion for using technology to create step changes in commercial outcomes. - Passion and expertise in recent and emerging technologies. - Deep platform/product knowledge on multiple technologies, holding an expert grasp in the typical benefits and trade-offs in their applicability to large organisations. - Strong technical capability; you can talk to any engineer at their level, you quickly absorb new technologies and understand the commercial opportunities. - Significant experience in working across large software development teams and formalised governance functions. - A deep understanding of how large software teams operate in traditional and emerging organisations. You know the pain points of a large waterfall or agile team, you understand the tension between a streamlined DevOps platform and incumbent applications, the operating model between dev. and ops. teams and the challenge of balancing rigour with speed. - Experience in running operational systems. - The ability to operate efficiently in a matrixed environment.
