Job Title: Senior/Lead Associate (Consultant) - Climate Risk and Catastrophes

Job Function: Strategic Risk Consulting / Capital, Science & Policy Practice

Your key objectives will be to assist the SRC team and broader CSP opportunities in the leading the development of catastrophe risk tools and assessments, often considering a climate dimension with respect to differing time horizons and climate scenarios, with focus on consulting projects on behalf of clients corporate client base and government/development agencies.

Such work will focus on extending insurance market-recognised catastrophe risk models, methodologies and metrics, as well as internal analytical platforms.

You will work alongside colleagues to support the design and implementation of cutting-edge risk management solutions to global challenges.

You will get involved in the development of intellectual capital, helping to ensure that we retain our reputation as market leaders across the insurance and risk consulting spaces.

The Requirements

- Excellent first degree in relevant subject, with preference for subsequent PhD demonstrating ability to manage research projects; and 6 years of relevant experience

- Strong analytical, science and/or mathematical-based background with interest in the area of natural hazards and climate risk (including earthquake, wind and flood)

- Demonstrable understanding of climate change impacts globally, IPCC output and other sources climate risk related material

Job Title: Senior/Lead Associate (Consultant)

Climate Risk and Catastrophes- Knowledge of databases such as SQL or MS Access, VBA, R, any GIS software such as Q-GIS, GRASS or Arc GIS etc. would be an advantage-

Where possible, experience in using third party catastrophe models such as RMS, AIR, RQE, KatRisk

or at least a good level of understanding of probabilistic and catastrophe modelling concepts

- A keen interest in insurance, finance and risk management innovation

- Demonstrable ability to think creatively and apply new solutions to existing challenges as well as addressing new and emerging challenges

- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience building and maintaining effective relationships with senior stakeholders, both internal and external

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage with confidence at all levels, extremely literate with a clear and analytical approach and ability to scientific, statistical, mathematical, and financial concepts to non- technical audiences

- Demonstrable competence in managing several varied workstreams concurrently and managing pressing deadlines

- Ability to take initiative and work effectively as part of a dynamic and lean team

- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to use their own initiative and prioritise their workload

- High attention to detail

- Highly proficient in online research

- Knowledge of databases such as SQL or MS Access, VBA, R, any GIS software such as Q-GIS, GRASS or Arc GIS etc. would be an advantage
