Role summary:
Senior individual contributor / small-team leader responsible for building and executing the export Go-To-Market strategy for chemical & petrochemical product lines (organics, intermediates, specialty additives, base petrochemicals). Role combines new-market entry, distributor/agent management, contract negotiation, compliance, and commercial P&L accountability for assigned geographies.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute export strategy (target geographies, product segmentation, channel model direct, distributor, agent, tender).
- Own full sales cycle for priority accounts: prospecting, RFQ management, commercial negotiation, contract finalization, and handover to logistics/operations.
- Build and manage relationships with international distributors, trading houses and strategic end-users; recruit and enable overseas channel partners.
- Manage pricing, credit terms, export documentation, incoterms, and export compliance (customs, local regulatory approvals, MSDS alignment).
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality and supply chain to guarantee delivery schedules, packing specs, and quality acceptance protocols.
- Create/own export P&L, forecasting, margin management and deal-risk assessment (FX, insurance, payment mechanisms LC, CAD, open account with ECA support).
- Own tender responses and strategic RFPs for target verticals (e.g., coatings, adhesives, agrochemical, polymer additives, refinery feedstocks).
- Prepare market intelligence & competitive landscaping; propose product/packaging adaptations and commercial pilots.
- Mentor/guide junior export executives; implement KPIs, dashboards and weekly cadence for pipeline/CRM hygiene.
Required qualifications & experience:
Essential
- Bachelors degree in Chemical / Chemical Engineering / Polymer Science / MSc / Business (BSc + commercial experience acceptable).
- 10-15+ years total experience with at least 6-8 years in international sales/export business development specifically for chemicals, petrochemicals, or adjacent specialty chemicals.
- Demonstrable track record of closing export deals, managing distributors/traders and handling export documentation/Incoterms.
- Deep knowledge of global chemical trade workflows: LC & trade finance, export documentation, MSDS/Hazard classifications, customs/HS codes.
- Strong commercial negotiation skills, credit & risk assessment experience and proven ability to manage margins under freight / FX pressure.
- Ready to travel (domestic + 3050% international travel) and engage in trade shows/customer visits.
Desirable
- Experience with EU, SE Asia, Middle East, Africa or Latin America markets; regulatory awareness (REACH / local equivalents) is a plus.
- Existing network with distributors/traders in priority regions or industry-specific end-users.
- An MBA or an international trade certification is a bonus.
- Experience with CRM (Salesforce/Zoho), ERP integration and digital tendering platforms.
