Global energy practice help clients - from governments and multinationals to companies, investors and financial institutions - increase the supply of economically viable, environmentally sustainable, socially equitable energy. The global Energy practice is looking to hire a talented and entrepreneurial individual with strong critical thinking, research and communication skills to fill the role of Practice Associate with a combination of research, knowledge management, business development and communication skills Responsibilities involved include, but are not limited to: 1. Knowledge Creation and Coordination - Coordinate between different regions and project teams to compile and manage existing knowledge assets within firm. - Working on PowerPoint documents, thought leadership pieces, infographics (working with the design team), thematic websites. - Create new datasets of useful statistics and keep them updated, ensuring that all related project deliverables are tagged, organized and ready for use. - Conduct independent mini-research projects to create new knowledge within the practice. This can include conducting interviews with experts globally, to launching mini-surveys with end-users living in low-income areas. - Create and develop internal- and external-facing knowledge platforms and channels to share practice insights. 2. Knowledge Dissemination - Internal dissemination: through practice area newsletters, hosting monthly practice area calls with global consultants, knowledge packs for project teams and catalyzing interest in the practice globally. - External Dissemination: external newsletter, participation in thematic conferences, hosting brown-bag talks and periodic interactions for the practice, engaging journalists and providing thought leadership content to mass media and social media, being responsible for the practice social media presence on platforms such as Twitter. 3. Business Development Support - Track and manage a database of energy practice clients. Develop an understanding of the business development landscape for the practice in terms of clients and opportunities. - Recommend/ initiate conversations with new clients and develop ways to engage existing clients. - Attend meetings, create concept notes and proposals and support business development with key analytical and communications inputs. 4. Client advisory and project work - Work with consultants on 1-2 energy practice projects per year - Support project teams with insights and knowledge management Requirements - For the associate, looking for self-driven and entrepreneurial individuals who are motivated to create positive social impact through their work and lives, have experience within the domains of energy, renewable energy, and/ or energy access, demonstrated research and analysis skills (especially, quantitative research and familiarity with data analysis), excellent oral and written communication, and familiarity with social media and new media channels. Specific skills and backgrounds that we are looking for: - Post graduate in a relevant field from a top university globally. Candidates with a post-graduate degree will be preferred - Deep knowledge of and experience in the Energy sector; Experience in Report writing, Concept Notes, Building databases etc. - Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills - Excellent research and analysis skills - Strong written and verbal communication - Ability to multi-task effectively - Deep experience with leveraging social media - Experience with social media (twitter, Facebook, Mailchimp, Buffer, Tweetbot, Wordpress etc) - Experience and networks in thematic journalism will be an added plus
