Section Head - Steel Making Plant ONLY-Slab Casters ONLY

Job Purpose:

To provide exemplary leadership to ensure that SMP#3 Slab Caster jobs are completed (from concept to commissioning and production stabilization) within target timeline and budget.

To participate actively in any other similar job in the group.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Configuring the right layout and TS

1. Study the similar facilities existing across both parent companies, at Hazira and utilize own experience to develop options for most optimum layout.

2. Layout must ensure smooth material flow and aim to minimize construction quantities for civil and structural.

3. Assist in preparing tender specifications for the area for the purpose of finalising detailed engineering consultant and construction partner.

Selection of technology supplier

1. Assist in selection of right vendor in consultation with technology groups of AM and NSC.

2. Assist in finalising the crystal clear scope division for the area between vendor and client ensuring no loose ends.

Selection of detailed engineering consultant

1. Assist in selection of right vendor capable of providing one stop solution to all engineering issues required to be addressed for the area during the project

Selection of construction partner

1. Assist in selection of right construction partner(s) for civil, structural and equipment works considering overall timeline and budget.

Planning & Execution

1. Assist in preparing approval notes for the area and get them approved from relevant authority.

2. Assist in preparing organisation chart for the area and ensure hiring competent people in right timeframe.

3. Assist in setting up project monitoring and control systems including cashflows for the area.

4. Commissioning and stabilize O&M working closely with existing O&M team for the area.

5. Assist in ensuring that post project work like meeting PG parameters, purchase orders and contract closing activities etc. are completed in time.

Identification and onboarding of key project and O&M personnel

1. Assist to prepare the organisation chart and approval.

2. Assist in identifying and onboarding competent people as per requirement.

3. Groom the team including GET's and OJT's for future O&M role.

Key Challenges

1. Complete the project with zero harm.

2. Complete the project for the area in given timeline and budget.

3. Identification and onboarding of key personnel to handle project and O&M jobs for the area.

4. Mobilisation and handling of workers in large nos. for project execution.

Skills & Knowledge :

Educational Qualifications & Certifications

1. BE / BTech in Mechanical / Metallurgical with experience in similar project and its O&M.

Total Years of Experience:

1. 20 years min.

Functional Skills :

1. Subject matter expert in the area of Slab Casters and have good knowledge of at least one other area of SMP.

2. Should have hands on experience on both Projects and O&M.

Behavioral Skills:

1. Should lead by example, thorough team player and capable of taking challenging targets. Should have strategic outlook so as to devise and execute strategies as per circumstances.

2. Excellent communication skills, to be able to give and receive feedback in time and more importantly act upon it. Should be open to constructive criticism.

3. High on innovative thinking and be able to inspire the team to continuously find new ways of moving ahead based on circumstances.
