About the Job:

The National Manager - Airfreight will be responsible for leading and managing all airfreight operations across India. This role involves full P&L responsibility, driving core-carrier programs, managing relationships with major airlines, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting sales growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the airfreight industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in achieving business objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- P&L Responsibility: Own and manage the overall Profit and Loss (P&L) for the India Airfreight business, including revenue generation, cost control, and profitability targets.

- Core-Carrier Program: Drive the company's core-carrier program across all regions in India, ensuring optimal carrier selection, performance, and relationship management.

- Airline Relationship Management: Meet regularly with top management teams at major airlines on a Pan-India level to negotiate contracts, secure favorable rates, and build strong, strategic partnerships.

- Operational KPIs: Define, monitor, and achieve key Airfreight operational KPIs for each region, focusing on efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction.

- Global Key Account Support: Assist the Global Key Account Team in the preparation and fulfillment of Request for Quotations (RFQs), providing expert airfreight solutions and pricing.

- International Collaboration: Liaise and work closely with regional teams in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the USA to optimize airfreight console programs, enhance service offerings, and drive global efficiencies.

- Carrier Negotiations: Support regional teams in negotiations with air carriers at a Pan-India level to secure competitive rates, capacity, and service agreements.

- Sales Enhancement: Collaborate with the India Sales Head to enhance local sales business, identify new opportunities, and develop strategies to increase market share.

- Business Development: Analyze historical tonnage data to identify and introduce new point-pair/sectors, and promote these to existing customers, the local sales team, and global account management teams.

- Sales Campaigns: Introduce and drive targeted sales campaigns for the airfreight console business to increase overall business productivity and profitability.

- Market Analysis: Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis to identify new trends, opportunities, and potential threats in the airfreight industry.

- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the airfreight business, increase profitability, and expand market share.

- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing airfreight team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

- Minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in the airfreight industry, with a strong focus on operations, sales, and business development.

- Proven track record of successfully managing and exceeding revenue and profitability targets.

- Experience in managing airfreight operations at a national level.

Skills and Abilities:

- Deep understanding of the Indian airfreight market, including key players, regulations, and industry trends.

- Extensive knowledge of airfreight operations, including import/export processes, customs regulations, and carrier management.

- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions.

- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with airlines, customers, and other stakeholders.

- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a team.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other relevant logistics and airfreight management software.

- Strong financial acumen and P&L management experience.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and results-oriented environment.
