Vice President-Life Science Advisory (Agri Business)

About the position:

Started in 1985, Sathguru is one of the oldest home grown consulting firms in India with expertise in corporate strategy, corporate finance and M&A, innovation advisory, international development and vertical focused ERP products.

Sathguru seeks a team lead to drive the Agri Input corporate advisory practice and lead the firm to an industry leading position by leveraging our unique positioning and strengths.

Reporting to the overall vertical, VP will be responsible for the entire Agri Input Advisory practice across industry sub-segments. The Lead will be the primary industry interface of the life science advisory group (business and innovation advisory) and will be responsible for:

1. Practice building:

a. Practice level strategic planning and P&L responsibility: The incumbent will be responsible for assessing opportunity in the industry and, in consultation with the management, preparing mid-term and annual strategic plan for the Agri Input corporate advisory practice. The practice head will be responsible for implementing the plan and will have practice level P&L responsibility.

b. PR and communication to foster industry leading reputation: The incumbent will be responsible for building awareness about the firm's expertise and creating industry leading reputation for the Agri Input advisory practice.

c. Business development and engagement sourcing: As the lead resource for implementing the practice strategic plan, will be responsible for sourcing advisory engagements to meet targeted business development goals.

d. HR planning, team development and management: As the corporate advisory practice lead with P&L responsibility, the SM will be responsible for building, grooming and managing the Agri Input advisory team.

2. Engagement management, project execution and delivery:

Nature of engagements will include opportunity analysis, developing business plans and operating models, working with innovation advisory team members in areas of technology access, evaluation and commercialization and with corporate finance colleagues for innovation and enterprise fund raising and M&A.

a. Engagement scoping: As the lead industry interface, the SM will sense client needs and will scope out services to meet client requirements and where innovation advisory or corporate finance/M&A services are offered, the SM will liaise with respective team leads at Sathguru to structure and deliver comprehensive and relevant services to the client.

b. Engagement execution and delivery: The SM will be responsible for management and oversight of all Agri Input advisory engagements. The SM will lead engagement planning and execution and will have ultimate responsibility for client satisfaction and delivery.

Qualifications and qualities sought:

- 15 to 20 years experience in Strategic Consulting with expertise in Agri Input /life sciences practice. Few years of research/industry experience preferred.

- Academic qualification: Bachelors/Masters in Agriculture / Science/with MBA from premium Business Schools Experience of leading client delivery, engagement execution and managing teams

- Strong capability to write, communicate, facilitate and present cogently and with high impact to all levels of industry audiences, clients and internal staff and management

- Strong analytical skills and perspective to deliver value adding insights to clients and develop reputation for thought leadership

- Self-starter and high level of motivation and drive required for aggressively building a differentiated advisory practice

- A strategic thinker who can drive the team passionately with the highest motivation
