Key Accountabilities :

- Design the framework of R&D strategy and provide expertise in the area of chemistry for the entire phase of product development till commercialization

- Extensively analyze complex R&D challenges & significantly improve, change, or adapt novel methods, techniques & technologies

- Provide deep expertise on R&D - Process Research & Optimization, Scale up & Validation

- Guide the team at the plants for trouble shooting and smooth transfer of technologies between R&D and Manufacturing.

- Conceptualizing and developing ideas and techniques

- Performance measurement and improvement

- Motivate and inspire their team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages bonding of team members, and demonstrates flexibility.

- Discover training needs and take responsibility for learning and development of team.

- Create strong channels of communication within the organisation and be a mentor for the next generation of R&D leaders.

Must Have Attributes :

- Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with 20+ years of experience in the specialty chemicals, Agrochemical, Fine chemical or Pharmaceutical industry and deep knowledge of chemical evaluation of products & strong analytical capabilities.

- Good understanding of development sequences (Analytical, Scale - up, Technology Transfer, IPR and Regulatory aspects).

- Possess good leadership capabilities to lead a large team of senior scientists and should have flair for process development leading to pilot and commercial plants.

Educational qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry

- Threshold skills and capabilities required to execute the role:

- Business Acumen, Negotiating & influencing skills, good communication skills, techno-commercial knowledge

Relevant experience: 20+ years of experience in the specialty chemicals/intermediates or API industry for the agrochemicals and deep knowledge of chemical evaluation of products & strong analytical capabilities.
