Engineering Lead Process

This Position : reports to : Head Engineering & Projects

Supervision of : Process Leads Engineers, Engineers and Designers

- Liaises with : Other discipline Managers ( Piping, Instrument, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural) HR, Management

NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION :

- Managing a team of Lead Engineers, Engineers and Designers to complete the projects in compliance with customer requirements within given time frame without compromising the budget and quality of work. Provide feedback and technical support to achieve the project objective. Functions as a Manager. With minimal supervision, applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods.

- Expands knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas. Continues to learn, remains current and applies independent knowledge and interpretation about standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and procedures relative to assigned tasks.

- Has the ability to prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables. Can perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Can prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

- Plans and conducts independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Reviews lower level engineering work or assignments. Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.

- Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Fully familiar with international codes, standards and recommended practices standards like API, Shell, NORSOK, NFPA, etc.

- Handle multiple project teams simultaneously and effectively prioritizing tasks, providing required man power with desired skill sets.

- Be it in the context of preparation for a tender / proposal or involvement in a project as Discipline Manager, the key responsibilities are :

- Ensure that necessary process resources are available for planning and executing Process Design and Engineering for Green field and Brown field development.

This entails the following, such as :

- Provide support to Business development team during the technical discussions with the clients.

- Review the capability and resources availability for a given proposal

- Prepare Schedule and Cost Estimates for Process Engineering part for a proposal.

- Preparation of Pre-bid and proposal document

- Prepare the Mobilization/ Demobilization plans for the ongoing and future projects.

- Develop teams capability to enable them handle challenging and profitable projects for the organization.

- As a technical authority, review critical drawings, documents, reports and other deliverables of projects.

- Support Lead engineers as necessary in HAZOP / SIL/ Model reviews in resolving technical issues.

- Vendor document review / approval.

- Coordinate with other discipline managers to resolve technical issues/ conflicts to ensure smooth delivery of projects.

- Ensuring that the design is carried out as per the industry standard practices and in conformance with the quality management system.

- Co-ordination with Project and client, subcontractors and/or suppliers

- Providing technical support to site engineers on technical query issues

- Coordination with client engineers on Process engineering issues

- Providing support in the Process area for procurement activities

- Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and pre-qualification documents in what relates to Process engineering design.

- Support Lead Engineers in resolving the identified issues that impede project progress by discussing with Other Discipline Managers, Project Managers and Head of Engineering.

- Review the progress of the discipline engineering activities as reported in progress reports and suggest recovery plans if delays occur.

- Assimilating the evolution of new products and technology, and updating oneself on the latest international standards in terms of engineering design practices and their applications;

- Identifying new methodology of work process required for higher productivity.

- Maintains coordination and cooperation with in process engineering team personnel in supervision by working with the Head Engineering to resolve discipline, personality conflicts, poor work habits, etc.

- Develop competency matrices for various levels of team members with requisite skill levels.

- Perform Gap Analysis of team members against the competency matrices and identify the training needs against the impending project requirements in the near future.

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

Must have :

Engineering Degree or Diploma from a recognized university / Institution. Excellent technical knowledge and well versed with international codes & Standards, hand calculations and use of design softwares like Hysys, Flarenet etc.

Good to have:

- Minimum 20 Yrs. for BE/B Tech. Experienced Professional, excellent technical know-how and overview throughout his discipline. Experience in an oil and gas company in specific engineering services focused on FPSO, FSO, other floating Oil & Gas structures and platforms is essential.
