Manager, R&D Division-HSM Location-Dolvi Reports to-Head Research Group, Steelmaking and Casting No. of positions-01 Purpose - Why does this role exist? To identify and execute R&D projects in continuous casting to improve process parameters, reduce the cost of production, and/or improve the quality of the product as a researcher. Technical branding through publications/patents, technical support to plant through scientific services, and expansion of R&D facilities through Capex project completion. Organization Chart Position reports to Head Research Group, Steelmaking and casting Positions peer with: Asst Mgr/Dy Mgr Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators) 1. Execution of R&D projects in the continuous casting area. 2. Publication in Peer Review Journal and Technical Presentation in conferences. 3. Technical support to plant through various scientific services and knowledge sharing. 4. Execution of Capex projects initiated in R&D as per project charter. 5. Competency development of R&D manpower by organizing domain-specific technical training. 6. TQM implementation in the workplace and associated R&D Labs. 7. Compliance with safety. Critical Tasks; - KRA's and Key Activities 1. Idea generation, evaluation, and feasibility check to formulate problem statement for R&D project in steel making and casting area. 2. Identification of resources and budget estimation for the R&D projects. 3. Project planning, and preparation of project monitoring chart (PMC). 4. Execution of R&D project as per PMC. 5. Plant trials, DOE, etc. as per R&D project requirement. 6. Technology transfer and project deployment to the plant. 7. Publication of research work in peer review journals and technical presentations in conferences. 8. Completion of CAPEX project initiated to expand R&D infrastructure. 9. Completion of scientific services in stipulated time. 10. Introduction of emerging technologies and knowledge sharing with plants. 11. Updation and maintenance of existing R&D facilities. 12. Organization of domain-specific technical training for enhancement of competency. 13. Implementation of various management initiatives like TQM, IMS, etc. 14. Adherence towards workplace safety Decision-making authority (Decisions expected) 1. R&D project execution. 2. Plant trials and design of experiment. Educational Background and Work Experience 1. Ph.D. or M. Tech in Metallurgical engineering & B. Tech in Metallurgy/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering 2.+ 2 years' experience in Steel making & casting area 3. Expertise in CFD and thermodynamic software like ANSYS Fluent, Thermocalc, FactSage, etc. 4. Expertise in Transport phenomenon and heat transfer, process modelling (physical or mathematical modelling), data analysis, computer languages like MATLAB, Python etc. 5.
