About Treasury Connect We are building India's leading investment &amp; cash management product for corporate treasuries at mid-sized companies and start-ups. Our mission is to help companies earn higher returns on their surplus cash. Our product will help companies conveniently plan cash-flow and invest in a range of safe, liquid investment options. The founder is an alumnus of IIT Madras &amp; Kellogg School of Management with around 12 years of experience in private equity and CFO roles at start-ups. Market Opportunity Indian corporates are increasingly looking beyond bank deposits to invest their surplus cash in search of liquidity &amp; higher yields. This is seen in the rapid growth of liquid &amp; money market mutual funds held by corporates since 2015 (22% CAGR) relative to cash in current accounts &amp; bank deposits (9% CAGR). The entire base of cash, bank deposits and debt investments held by Indian corporates is over US$500Bn and growing at ~10-12% annually, which provides a large market to play in. Finance teams at mid-sized companies/startups tasked with managing surplus cash usually do not have time to research all the available investment options. They still deal with cumbersome data entry and paper/spreadsheet based processes to manage their daily cash flow and investments. We want to save finance teams 75% of the time they spend today on these processes and improve their yields by at least 1.5-2%. Role &amp; Ideal Candidate High-quality research &amp; analytics will be a key competitive advantage at Treasury Connect. The Head of Research position will lead all of our research &amp; analytics efforts. The ideal candidate is excited about fixed income investing, creating innovative capital markets products, and is committed to joining an early stage venture for non-linear career growth. This role will offer a significant wealth creation opportunity through ESOPs. Key responsibilities for this position are: - Using systematic, quantitative research to generate recommendations &amp; risk alerts for our clients. Some examples of specific initiatives: - Identifying correlations between debt mutual fund NAVs &amp; interest rates - Developing an independent ratings framework for debt mutual funds combining liquidity, concentration &amp; credit quality - Tracking changes in bond holdings, issuances, and secondary transactions to understand market sentiment - Working with technology team to automate repetitive tasks in this area - Writing articles relevant to our audience regularly. Examples are: - Long-form thought pieces on topics such as fixed income investing, asset allocation, macroeconomic policy, treasury best practices etc. - Weekly updates on movements in fund returns, rates, macro-economic indicators etc. - Helping ideate and develop new products Required Skills/Experience - MBA or CFA or another advanced degree in finance - 8-15 years of experience in credit ratings, fixed income/macroeconomics research in ratings agencies, private wealth, investment or commercial banks - Strong written communication skills - converting insights into written recommendations is a key part of the role - Advanced knowledge of statistics, econometrics &amp; related software applications - Able to roll up sleeves and work hands-on as part of a lean team
