My client is a rapidly growing Media Company powered by the world's top creators, artists, and influencers, helping top brands to engage the 13- to 30-year-old audience in North America and India. They are publicly traded in TSX Venture Exchange, and are looking for a collaborator committed to delivering top-notch controllership and finance support to the Management in India while interacting across multiple functional areas, both locally and internationally.

This role reports to the Corporate Controller located in Toronto, Canada.

Responsibilities and Duties

This role is responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance operations in India:

Accounting and Financial Reporting

- Fully own integrity of financial data, delivering financial information with no significant errors.

- Manage month-end close including but not limited to:

- Review and post all accounting journal entries in accordance with the Indian GAAP and IFRS.

- Perform all balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis. Resolve all non reconciling items or variances in a timely manner.

- Manage preparation and delivery of all monthly, quarterly, annual reports and supporting schedules, as well as management reports.

- Evaluate all significant accounting transactions; research and implement relevant accounting technical standards.

- Ensure operational and design effectiveness of internal controls over all financial processes, maintaining a strong control environment expected of a public company.

- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, intercompany and general accounting processes, ensuring transactional efficiency and completeness of the sub-ledgers and general ledger.

- Support the annual audit activities with external auditors for both Indian statutory and the Parent Company's annual audits, as required.

Financial Planning & Analysis and Business Partnership

- Perform various financial analysis, monitoring the Indian business units' financial condition by collecting, interpreting and reporting on financial data including but not limited to: topline analysis, operational cost analysis, cash flow analysis and capital investment ROI. Investigate variances from budget and forecasts.

- Manage strategic planning and forecasting. Partner with the Leadership Team, Management and cross-functional business owners in shaping business strategy and priorities across the Indian organizations, bringing new thinking and ways of doing things, subsequently driving accountability for execution and results.

- Monitor and manage cash flow, cash requirements, and cash investment policy across the Indian business units.

- Communicate effectively and regularly with cross-functional stakeholders to manage the information exchange and ensure consistency among data-driven decision making.

Compliance and Regulatory Reporting

- Oversee and coordinate all regulatory compliance requirements, including but not limited to corporate and GST tax filings and FEMA/ECB filings, ensuring that all filing deadlines are met and all reporting requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.

- Manage, facilitate and support auditors with the preparation of annual tax returns and audited financial statements.

- Leadership and People Management

- Manage accounting team members by overseeing and reviewing prepared work while providing leadership and guidance on appropriate accounting processes to complete the tasks at hand.

- Collaborate with other regional and corporate controllers to collect, review, and resolve reporting issues effectively.

- Provide the business unit controllers with coaching and guidance.

- Project Management - Manage or assist operational process improvement initiatives and projects, as requested.

Qualifications and Skills :

- Chartered Accounting designation in India

- University degree in Business or related discipline

- Subject matter expert on Indian GAAP with the ability to research and analyze new and proposed accounting guidance. Strong technical knowledge in IFRS is desired.

- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience is required. At least 3 years of Big 4 or reputable public accounting experience is strongly desired.

- Detail oriented, hands-on, superior analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize complex issues into actionable points

- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with ability to manage competing priorities and meet deliverables while building relationships with all stakeholders

- Leadership and people management skills with ability to lead, motivate and engage all stakeholders

- Excellent communication skills

- Excellent project and change management skills

- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools especially Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
