The Role : 

- Senior Associate (UK Portfolio Analytics) supports RBS Retail Banking on aspects of Credit Risk quantification and management. The key focus areas are analytical support for development, review and revision of credit policies in relation to customer acquisition and account management, credit line optimisation, Credit and regulatory risk reporting and problem debt management. The incumbent is expected to perform relevant analysis to known business problems and present findings to management for an assigned business area within Retail banking, understand and investigate portfolio movements and underlying trends.

What the Business Does : 

Risk Analytics and Models, as part of a team extension model, supports the global teams and is responsible for annual reviews and redevelopment of the credit models and operational scorecards, support for data aligned to risk analytics activities including loss data reconciliation and model performance assessment using statistical techniques. The incumbent is expected to develop and optimize retail banking strategies by analysing the performance of various asset portfolios to balance the trade off between risk and revenue. The role of Portfolio Analytics - Senior Associate is based in the Retail Credit Risk department, reporting to Associate VP.

Your Responsibilities

If you are looking to apply for the role of Portfolio Analytics - Senior Associate, you will be responsible to:

- Scope out a business problem basis onshore discussions, ideate and propose a methodology and challenge approach, perform relevant analysis, draw insights and propose business recommendations. Be able to connect analysis to the key strategic priorities of the respective functions.

- Provide detailed analysis to ensure a complete and accurate understanding of business inputs, outputs and methodologies to key stakeholders, both internal and external, run investigations and reporting of key metrics movements to management recommending remedial action. Ability to form a process view relative to analyses performed.

- Ability to create documentations adhering to group risk policy and communicate with peers and executives.

- Mentor junior analysts in the team to scope out project basis a well-rounded view of the use case, upstream and downstream processes

- Perform independent research and analysis associated with proposed changes/ enhancements to identified business priorities, challenge standard practices and suggest improvements therein

- Identify optimization/innovation opportunities and scope out projects accordingly

- Informed discussions and decision making related to area of work

- Business commentary writing

- Direction and troubleshooting

- Support recruitment and candidate onboarding

- Build required validation/reconciliation checks and challenge accuracy of numbers

- As SME, take responsibility to address queries and provide guidance to team members

- Resolve stakeholder queries appropriately and promptly.

- Managing a varied stakeholder set and hence conflicting priorities

- Comply with Our Code, all RBS policies, - How we manage RBS-, and deliver against all relevant statutory, regulatory, supervisory and legal obligations

- Proactive identification and effective management and/or escalation of conduct risk to deliver key customer outcomes

- Own and develop the risk and control mechanisms for the business to use to discharge its responsibilities, independently overseeing and challenging effective management of risks and controls within agreed risk appetites

- Provide expert support, advice, management information and escalation to leaders and the business on risk management

Skills you need : 

- Masters in quant disciplines such as Economics/Maths/statistics/Operations Research or MBA or B. Tech from IITs/NITs/Tier 1 institutes

- 6+ years experience in data mining/data analytics using SAS or similar data analysis packages

- Background in banking industry

- Retail Portfolio Analysis experience is preferable

- Ability to independently run analyses as required

- Excellent communication skills

- Excellent Influencing skills

- Experience working in financial services, or in an analytical role

- Excellent analytical skills combined with an enquiring mind set

- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
