RBS - Assistant Vice President - Risk Analytics & Models (8-10 yrs)

Role :

- The role supports RBS Retail Banking on aspects of Credit Risk quantification and management. Key focus areas are analytical support for development, review and revision of credit strategies in relation to customer acquisition and account management, portfolio management, development and review of risk appetite frameworks

- The role-holder is expected to lead a team of 8 - 10 members and ensure delivery of high quality insightful analysis/ business reports to the stakeholders in Retail Credit, take challenge accepted practices and identify improvement opportunities and capability enhancements, and also liaise with other departments to share knowledge and data

- The individual will act as experienced project managers, managing a team of consultants that leverage the power of advanced analytical solutions to bring new insights to important business issues in retail credit risk. They liaise with cross-functional teams to understand and translate business issues and opportunities into projects and propose solutions that employ advanced analytical techniques such as e.g. statistical analysis, predictive analysis, data mining, optimization techniques etc.

What The Business Does:

- Risk Analytics and Models, as part of a team extension model, supports the global teams and is responsible for annual reviews and redevelopment of the credit models and operational scorecards, support for data aligned to risk analytics activities including loss data reconciliation and model performance assessment using statistical techniques.

Your Responsibilities:

- Make presentations to senior stakeholders to convey complex concepts, information, and results in a way that can be easily understood and integrated into the business

- Influence and support business to deliver customer focussed strategies in an effective manner

- Lead the identification of opportunities, develop and deliver strategic processes that provide clear improvements in customer experience and portfolio financial performance

- Be a champion for data driven innovation across the function building relationships with different portfolio teams to ensure that strategies and policies reflect customer insight gleaned across

- Proactively support all areas of retail credit risk on strategic/ tactical projects as required by the business; Participates in full range of hiring and other talent development activities; Proactively volunteers & contributes across talent development initiatives

- Responsible for training and development of the team. Contribute toward shaping overall training plans for team members, including both functional and technical trainings, and translating into capability development/ enhancement

- Develop the capability to produce well written insightful analysis and proposal/committee papers for self and the team; Manage performance for employees through constant feedback and through the formal appraisal mechanism; Identify training gaps and lead training initiatives for the team

- Support leadership team in provision of effective communication within the team; Oversee and manage admin costs for team. Contribute towards productivity improvement which will result in a cost benefit; Complete accountability for quality and timely delivery of business priorities for self and team across BAU and project based work

- Manage stakeholder expectations within the constraints of the business (people/resources/time); Anticipates business needs and create opportunities for data driven analysis informing the business/ function thereof; Proactive identification and effective management and/or escalation of conduct risk to deliver key customer outcomes

The Skills That You Need

- Masters in quantitative discipline such as Economics/ Mathematics/ Operations Research/ Statisitcs or MBA or B.Tech

- 8 to 10 years in Retail portfolio analysis, at least 3 years in managing people directly

- Proven track record of developing people and talent in a global model

- Proven track record of managing and influencing complex stakeholder relationships (internal and external) across levels and on a global basis

- Proven ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, to potentially very diverse audiences

- Ability to establish credibility at senior management levels

- Experience of leading, motivating and managing large teams

- Excellent knowledge and understanding of retail banking products and underlying credit risk quantification methods

- Experience of retail portfolio analysis, business commentary writing and presentation to senior stakeholders
