Job Title: Head - Internal Audits

Department: Internal Audit

Location: Kharagpur - West Bengal

Reporting To: CFO / Board Audit Committee

Job Summary:

The Head - Internal Audits will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive audit program to ensure financial and operational compliance, risk management, and internal controls within the manufacturing company. The role requires strategic leadership, process improvements, fraud detection, and adherence to statutory regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Internal Audit Strategy & Planning

- Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan aligned with organizational goals.

- Establish internal audit policies, frameworks, and best practices in line with industry standards.

- Ensure audits cover financial, operational, and compliance risks within the manufacturing setup.

2. Risk Assessment & Compliance

- Identify financial, operational, and regulatory risks, providing mitigation strategies.

- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, GST, Income Tax, SEBI, and other relevant regulations.

- Conduct internal control evaluations and recommend improvements.

3. Audit Execution & Reporting

- Lead financial, operational, and IT audits across manufacturing plants, warehouses, and corporate offices.

- Review costing, procurement, production efficiency, inventory management, supply chain, and CAPEX audits.

- Prepare detailed audit reports for senior management and the Audit Committee.

- Monitor corrective action implementation and provide ongoing risk advisory.

4. Fraud Prevention & Investigations

- Establish robust fraud detection and forensic audit mechanisms.

- Conduct special investigations on financial irregularities, thefts, and misconduct.

- Recommend preventive controls to mitigate fraudulent activities.

5. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

- Lead, mentor, and train a team of internal auditors.

- Collaborate with finance, operations, IT, and HR to ensure compliance and process improvements.

- Present findings and recommendations to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory:

- Chartered Accountant (CA) - Must be a qualified CA.

- 10-15 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in internal audit.

- Experience in large manufacturing / industrial / FMCG / automotive / steel / cement / pharma companies.

- Strong knowledge of financial audits, SOX, COSO, ERM, SAP, and ERP systems.

Preferred Skills:

- Expertise in ICFR, internal controls, and risk management.

- Knowledge of data analytics tools (ACL, IDEA, Power BI) is an advantage.

- Strong leadership, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
