Job description
As the Credit Head, you will be responsible for leading and managing the credit risk assessment function within the real estate finance division. You will oversee a team of credit analysts, ensuring that robust credit analysis, risk assessments, and financial evaluations are conducted for all real estate loan applications. You will play a pivotal role in decision-making, providing leadership and strategic direction for credit decisions, loan structuring, and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Strategy and Leadership: Lead credit risk assessments and execute strategies for loan approvals, risk mitigation, and portfolio management. Mentor the credit analysis team.
- Credit Risk Management: Define and implement credit risk policies. Ensure alignment with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Team Management: Supervise, train, and develop credit analysts. Foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Loan Structuring and Syndication: Structure complex real estate loans. Work with lenders to syndicate loans as needed.
- Credit Assessment and Due Diligence: Oversee credit evaluations, financial reviews, and property appraisals. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Financial Modelling & Risk Analytics: Use advanced financial models to assess creditworthiness and risk exposure. Monitor financial metrics and market trends.
- Portfolio Oversight: Regularly review the loan portfolio and mitigate potential risks.
- Credit Memos & Reporting: Oversee credit memos, summarizing analysis and recommendations for loan decisions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, legal, and compliance teams to ensure alignment on policies and strategies.
- Market Intelligence & Trends: Stay updated on market trends, economic conditions, and regulations to inform credit decisions.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strategic Leadership: Proven experience in leading teams and making sound decisions under pressure.
- Advanced Financial Analysis: Expertise in financial statements, ratios, and real estate finance.
- Credit Risk Expertise: Ability to assess credit risk and analyze complex financial data.
- Real Estate Knowledge: Strong understanding of the real estate market and legal aspects of transactions.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical ability to identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Communication and Negotiation: Excellent communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in reviewing financial documentation and agreements.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in credit risk management or real estate finance, including significant experience leading teams.
- Professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA, CFA, or MBA in Finance are highly preferred.
- Proven track record of managing complex credit portfolios and making high-stakes credit decisions.
