Position / Job Title : Manager-Indirect Tax


Qualification :


- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Lawyer (LL.B.) with relevant exposure.


- Additional qualification of Company Secretary (CS) would be an added advantage.


Experience :


- 5-7 years


- Relevant experience should be in the indirect tax field.

Job Description:


PwCs Indirect Tax Practice provides comprehensive advice and assistance on Customs duties, CENVAT (Central Excise), Service Tax, VAT (including works contract taxes and lease taxes), Foreign Trade Policy, Free Trade Agreements and Cross border supply chains and anti dumping duties. Our Services include the following:


Advisory :


- Advice on classification, valuation, applicability of taxes on transactions and admissibility to tax benefits/exemptions


- Opinions on other indirect tax issues


- Providing innovative but rigorous tax planning ideas Indirect Tax Reviews / Health Checks /Due Diligence Reviews


- Undertaking comprehensive reviews of business operations to identify tax planning opportunities as well as compliance gaps


- Conducting detailed indirect tax due diligence reviews (buy side / sell side) Compliance Support and Outsourcing


- Indirect tax compliance support/ outsourcing on an all India basis


- Preparation of customised compliance manuals on all indirect taxes


- Provision of complete support for customs SVB proceedings Litigation support


- Drafting replies to notices and Drafting appeals and submissions


- Appearances and arguments before adjudication and appellate authorities up to the Tribunal


- Appearance and arguments before anti-dumping authorities


- Briefing of Senior Counsel General


- Undertaking marketing for assignments


- Leading client relationship We also provide for Strategic Consulting, Trade Facilitation and Representation services


Profile Requirements :


Working in this discipline will see a Manager working on engagements and teams (the sizes of which will vary depending on client/project). To qualify for the same an Manager will need:


- To be a Qualified Chartered Accountant or Lawyer with relevant exposure and 5-7 years of experience.


- Primary exposure should be on indirect tax matters.


- Additional qualification of Company Secretary (CS) would be an added advantage.


Other prerequisite skills include:


- Expert knowledge of indirect tax laws relating to VAT/ Entry tax/ Excise/ Customs and basic knowledge of direct tax and transfer pricing is expected. Also the current GST developments and impact of the same on the industry.


- Excel, presentation and report writing skills are extremely important


- Good communication and interpersonal skills


- Should have experience in appearing/ representing matters before tax and regulatory authorities


Subject Matter Expertise required :


- Full knowledge of Indirect Tax laws relating to Service Tax VAT, Excise, Customs


- Advance knowledge of Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing is expected


- Knowledge of the current GST developments and impact of the same on the industry
