Main Purpose :

Manages the evaluation of proposed capital investments in the context of Puma Energy's strategic plans to assist management in identifying and approving capital investments for the region that will further the company's mission and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensuring group policies and processes for Capex management are followed including compliance to the capex DOA.

- Data verification, capex approval and spend tracking, and capex report production

- Approval tracking (country, regional and group investment committee levels)

- Spend to date

- Comparison vs Budget/Forecast

Regional investment committee:

- To review project economic analysis and ensure accuracy and completeness, including supporting presentation Schedule Investment review meetings with Management as required.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

- Ensuring proper and accurate budgeting as per Group policy and deadlines by closely working with multiple in-country and Regional Functional managers.

- Ensuring forecast is done accurately and on time as per Group policy by closely working with multiple in-country and Regional Functional managers.

- Completion of monthly upload of Capex spent/movements into Hyperion and reconcile general ledger (finance module) to sub-ledger (capex module).

- Report to Management on Monthly and Full Year capital expenditure, including the variance analysis on most significant gaps (value and time differences).

- To ensure relevant Inter company adjustments are posted as part of month-end close.

- To review capitalization of fixed assets with Accounting team and provide commentaries on capex WIP balance for each entity for Group BS review

- Ensuring proper accruals are being made each month so that spend is captured accurately, thus enabling more accurate forecasting of remaining costs.

- To ensure projects are delivered within approved budget. Challenge stakeholders on overruns in order to compensate by savings on other investments

- Maintaining and updating capex pipeline of potential projects for the region.

- Follow up on project status and manage and monitor capex re-allocations between budgeted/un-budgeted projects.

Key Relationships:

- Internal - Africa CFO, Head of Regional FP&A, Puma Regional Finance Manager, Country Finance Managers, General Managers, Puma Head office (FP&A, Controller), Africa CEO, Africa COO, Functional Heads, Mumbai Shared Service Centre

- External - External auditors

Experience:

- University degree and a Registered Accountant/ Business Administration Experience as a manager for at least 6-8 years.

- Previous experience in strategic long-range and tactical planning. Downstream experience will be an added advantage

Skills:

- Computer systems skills. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.

- Experience with Corporation Auditing, Business Consulting are preferred, but not critical.

Competencies:

Ability to frequently interact with senior management both at country and regional levels. Excellent written, quantitative, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under minimal supervision. Strong work ethic and ability to effectively communicate financial information to business unit finance staff as well as senior management. Hands-on and detail-oriented. Must be a team player with initiative and demonstrated ability to work in a challenging work environment. Ability to multi-task.

Languages:

- Fluency in verbal and written English mandatory
