Job Title - Deputy Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) - UK & Europe Insurance (UK&EI) also known as Prudential UK.

Overall Job Purpose :

The role reports to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk in Pru Global Risk Management (or equivalent). The ERM team is responsible for providing executive management with a strategic risk profile assessment of UK&EI as well as owning the UK&EI Risk Management Framework.

This includes Policy framework, policy attestation, risk reporting, model governance etc.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

- Provide independent review and challenge of the self-assessments through continuous monitoring of policy compliance and conduct reviews of key controls to mitigate the top risks,including identification of control gaps and deficiencies and development of remediation plans

- Clearly and concisely communicate the results of the annual statement of compliance and monitoring to the Risk team, other functions and senior management

- Produce enterprise wide risk reports against risk appetite for senior management, boards,committees, statutory entities, Group and regulators highlighting risks, issues, control failings and identifying areas for management action. Provide meaningful oversight and challenge to Risk reports to ensure consistency, completeness and clarity of message

- Provide support and guidance to the Prudential UK&EI business, including its suppliers in assessing the effectiveness of their internal controls against the requirements of the internal policies.

- Research on key industry and market trends, producing reports assessing risks and opportunities, producing analysis, examining financial data, company strategy and key company, regulatory and industry developments to draw out insights and trends

- Support the Internal Model application and on-going compliance with Solvency II requirements to ensure that there are appropriate governance arrangements in place to support the Internal Model Solvency II compliance with respect to Data quality and documentation standards

- Use of regulatory knowledge, business understanding and expert judgement, to quickly identify underlying issues and escalate issues, where appropriate

- Work with colleagues and develop good working relationships across locations within the Risk function and the wider Business to ensure that Prudential UK and its subsidiaries operate within an effective risk management framework

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of methodology across Risk and work flexibly in support of the wider Risk agenda

- Compliance - To understand and adhere to Prudential's Code of Conduct and, where appropriate, comply with all relevant regulatory policies. This includes completion of any mandatory training requirements

Competence / Knowledge / Skills required

Qualification & Certifications

- Chartered Accountancy/MBA specialising in Finance/Risk Management

- FRM/CFA would be a significant plus

Experience / Knowledge / Skills required

- Minimum of 7 years- experience in a Risk/Audit function within a financial institution

- A good understanding of regulatory environments and regulated marketplace and position of Prudential within that market

- Practical and theoretical knowledge of business risk and control frameworks and how these map to evolving regulatory requirements

- Good knowledge of Insurance products, systems and distribution methods would be desirable

- Have a demonstrable track record of delivering process/control improvements within significant programmes of work, with nominal supervision

- Strong analytical skills in order to identify key themes, suggest solutions and deliver on opportunities

- Excellent partnership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to successfully navigate a complex organisation as well as build strong relationships and work collaboratively with teams across the business

- Ability to operate remotely, in a diverse and multi-cultural environment. International work or consultancy exposure would be a definite plus

- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

- Ability to quickly learn and assimilate key processes and procedures

- Ability to analyse business requirements and regulations, highlighting key considerations or new requirements

- Confidence to challenge appropriately, escalating as required.

- Good interpersonal skills - involving liaison across the organisation with key personnel,influencing others to deliver to deadlines and guiding them on specific requirements

- Good report writing, written and oral communication skills (Face to face and via the telephone or videoconference)

- Ability to make quick independent decisions based on logical thought processes

- Good organisation and logistical skills
