Proterra Investment Partners (www.proterrapartners.com) is a global alternative investment manager that spun out of Cargill, the multinational food and agriculture company, on 1 January 2016. Proterra manages approximately $2.5 billion of committed private equity capital in the natural resource sectors of agriculture, food and metals & mining, operating from a head office in Minneapolis (United States) and field offices in London, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Singapore, and Sydney.

The Food Fund currently has investments in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, and Thailand. We are seeking an Associate, based in Mumbai, to support the existing Food Fund team in all aspects of the private equity investment process (due diligence through realization of investment) with regards to investments in India.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Support Investment Team in: analyzing investment opportunities, portfolio monitoring, sourcing deals, investment screening, and supporting transactions

- Assist Investment Team in due-diligence process, legal documentation and deal closure

- Construct, review and maintain detailed financial/operating models for existing and potential investments

- Oversee & maintain deal pipeline, track market M&A activity, collate internal updates and create deal presentations

- Prepare periodic updates on the Funds- investment sub-sectors (Dairy, Processed Foods, Poultry, Aquaculture, etc.), quarterly operational and valuation reviews

- Analysis and interpretation of financial statements; convey conclusions and insights clearly

- Coordinate with the Operations team based in Minneapolis on funding of investments and closing documentation

Required Educational Qualifications (at least 1 of the below):

- Undergraduate Engineering degree (Indian Institute of Technology or equivalent)

- MBA (Indian Institute of Management or equivalent)

- Post Graduate Degree from a premier Rural/Agriculture Business School

- Chartered Accountant

Other Required Qualifications:

- 4-7 years- experience in Private Equity, Banking, or in a strategic business group of leading FMCG/Food Companies

- Proclivity and exposure to Food (Consumer)/Agriculture sector

- Fluency in English with proven written & communication skills

- Strong financial analysis skills with extensive financial modeling experience in Excel

- Ability to work accurately with a large amount of data with strong attention to detail

- High degree of personal integrity and self-motivation, and attention to detail

- Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities with very tight deadlines

- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic, high-energy, high-performing team environment
