Project Associate - Learning/Evaluation & Monitoring - NGO (3-5 yrs)

Specific activities will include:

- Using ethnographic and interview techniques to assess the impact of the project on women's economic empowerment. Based on a framework developed by the project advisors, the Project Officer (LEM) will conduct regular semi-structured interviews with women in the project sites in Delhi and Patna.

- Using ethnographic and interview techniques to document the project interventions as they roll out, and use regular interviews with project teams and staff in order to assess the efficacy of program design and the actual processes of implementation.

- Liasing with the Project Co-ordinator/Team Lead to generate monthly and quarterly reports as required. This will require both the collation of data as well as the writing of narrative reports.

Suggested Candidate Profile

- 3-5 years experience in research projects, especially in the areas of urban housing, basic infrastructure and services, and gender.

- Experience in qualitative research, including conducting interviews. Ideal candidates will have some understanding of using participant observation techniques.

- Familiarity with low-income urban settlements is a must. Ideal candidates will have project experience in urban neighbourhoods marked by vulnerable built environments.

- Willingness to travel and spend extensive time in the field in Delhi and Patna

- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, in both English and Hindi. These will be assessed in the interview. Ideal candidates will have experience working, writing and communicating in Hindi.

- Ability to work in an organized and efficient manner within a relatively unstructured work environment

- Ability to take initiative and leadership even with minimal supervision

- Passion for bringing about real, sustainable, large-scale change for women in India's most marginalized communities
