Program Manager - NGO (5-20 yrs)

Arthan is working with a leading not-for-profit organisation, that works towards fighting the deep-rooted caste-based practices and culture in our society by working with manual scavengers, waste pickers and migrant workers through insightful action-based interventions that aim to achieve clear and compelling outcomes for the community.

The organisation is looking for individuals :

1. Who have a total of at least 5 years of experience which includes a minimum of 1-2 years of on-ground experience with labour rights and 3-4 years of experience in the development sector

2. Who have strong program management, operational precision, strong problem solving and a very deep understanding of caste dynamics, especially at the grassroots level

3. Based out/willing to relocate to Bengaluru

Program Managers are responsible for the theme by making grants to organizations across the country.The incumbent ensures smooth program delivery and aids delivery of the operating plan. The incumbent

will have complete accountability for a large programme and multiple grants that ensure the achievement of the stated goal/objectives.

Responsibilities - Grant Making and Management

- Ensure compliance of specific grant proposals

- Co-create strategies, outcomes and impact frameworks with partners and external consultants

- Review all completed proposals to ensure that required information has been provided. Ensure that the story of the grantee organization comes through clearly.

- Lead the efforts on the Due Diligence Process and partner engagement

- Help the partner develop results frameworks

- Conduct meaningful conversations with all grantees that validate their results framework/s for review and action by the Board.

- Post approval, provide leadership to working with the finance team and the grantees

- Ensure compliance to the grant making system

- Manage multiple stakeholders and work closely with them to bring together

Learning and Reflection

- Develop guidelines for effective reflection, learning and change

- Work on the results from a learning and reflection exercise to create best practices and introduce process improvements

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred

- 5 to 15 years of work experience, either in a field operations role or work experience with a grantmaker

- At least 2 to 3 years of experience working directly on issues of informal sector labour, migrant workers, waste pickers or manual scavenging communities.

- Should have made significant and long lasting contributions in his/her area of specialization.

- Should have lead teams and have had accountability for large goals in his/her previous assignments

- Grant-making experience strongly preferred; desire to work in and with nonprofit sector is essential
