- As Principal Data Scientist/Research Scientist, you will be based in Bangalore and will interact with business groups to understand critical business problems, identify and drive broad research directions as well as specific ML and AI problems and solution approaches, and manage and mentor junior data scientists to create cutting edge data-driven systems and technologies that can considerably impact the business outcomes.

The AI & DS team of our client forays into research, development, and application of ML and AI towards (but not limited to) three specific focus areas: automating business decision making; analysing and mining player's skills and strategies; and accordingly, improving player's journeys and game-play experience in their game and product.

Description

Reporting into Head of AI and DS team and will be responsible for:

- Interact with business groups to understand critical business problems

- Identify and drive broad research directions as well as specific ML and AI problems and solution approaches,

- Manage and mentor junior data scientists to create cutting edge data-driven systems and technologies that can considerably impact the business outcomes

- Be a scientific leader who can also enable strong presence in scientific community via research publications, tutorials, workshops, and collaborate with research institutions with renowned researchers in the field of interest

- Contribute to the future vision and innovation needed to the growth of the organisation

- Use of cutting edge AI techniques for building advanced prediction and recommendation systems, knowledge mining, insight generation, and business automation

- Understand business challenges and goals to formulate the approach for data analysis and model creation that will support business decision making

- Research on innovative technologies to come up with novel data mining, modelling/segmentation approaches required to solve unique and complex business problems, as well as create publications and patents from them

- Interpret, document and present/communicate analytical results to multiple business disciplines, providing conclusions and recommendations based on customer-centric data

- Manage and mentor other data scientists and associate data scientists

Profile

To be successful as a Principal Data Scientist/Research Scientist you should have:

- PhD (with 7+ years of industry experience post PhD) in a relevant field such as Probability, Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Artificial intelligence/Computer Science and with significant publication record in top-tier conferences and journals

- Experience with building data analytics models via supervised and unsupervised machine learning and deep learning, NLP, Computer vision, reinforcement learning, statistical analysis, and predictive modelling techniques

- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving ability

- Strong background and experience in using R, SAS, MATLAB or equivalent statistical/data analysis tools and technologies is a must

- Background in complex modelling and advanced analytical models with structured and un-structured, multi-model, high dimensional data

- Exposure to Big Data platforms like Hadoop, spark, hive etc and databases like SQL is desirable

- Exposure to reinforcement learning and bandit algorithms is a plus

- Ability to communicate complex models and analysis in a clear and precise manner

- Passion for understanding business problems; and identifying and solving hard technical problems stemming from them by leveraging high-volume and high dimensional data from multiple sources
