Software Engineering Head

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The Engineering Head is a leadership role accountable for the successful delivery of software and IT support infrastructure for the Organization. Managing a team of developers and IT specialists and drive as IT architecture vision chief and lead all aspects of the development of the software.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Talent should have minimum 10-12 years of work experience in Core Java, JFS, J2EE, JPA/Hibernate, Struts, Spring, Servlets, JDBC, JMS, JSON, JUNIT and JVM Semantics/Garbage Collection knowledge.

2) Expert knowledge in Web Services using SOAP, XML/XSLT, and RESTful Web services, design patterns and databases, JBoss, Tomcat, WebSphere, Web logic.

3) Lead and manage the Software Development and IT teams to deliver software, infrastructure and architecture that meets the needs of larger Goal.

4) Ensure delivery consistent with Agile processes across the team and driver them in building a robust, scalable, expandable and high performing software application.

5) Implement mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on all software development activities;

6) Create, implement and maintain a continuous improvement plan for software development and IT infrastructure;

7) Research the external environment, and where appropriate identify and recommend external partners for the delivery of best in class technologies as suitable;

8) Reviewing and applying said best practices to establish architecture and frameworks consistent with and supportive of the Product Strategy;

9) Articulating to Board, Sales and user communities, the company's technological vision, opportunities, and challenges as agreed with the Leadership Team;

10) Collaborating with the appropriate functions and users to evaluate and identify technology platforms for delivering the company's products and internal services;

11) Understanding the use cases (and/or user stories) in order to oversee the design of the architecture for the products to be built;

12) Ensuring that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization;

5) Prioritizing and Organizing Work: Allocates time and attention based on what is most important to achieve key goals and objectives. Effectively organizes and balances tasks and priorities to keep multiple projects on track.
