Job Purpose:

The Plant Head is responsible for managing the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance. This role involves leading and developing the plant team, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

- Oversee the entire production process, from raw material procurement to finished goods delivery.

- Ensure that production schedules are met, and products are manufactured according to quality standards and specifications.

- Manage plant performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, efficiency, cost, quality, and safety.

Team Leadership and Development:

- Lead, coach, and develop the plant management team, including production, maintenance, quality, safety, and logistics departments.

- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

- Identify training needs and implement development programs for plant personnel.

Safety and Compliance:

- Ensure that the plant operates in compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations.

- Promote a culture of safety, implementing safety programs and procedures to minimize accidents and incidents.

Monitor and enforce compliance with industry standards, certifications, and legal requirements.

Quality Assurance:

- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.

- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to identify and resolve any quality issues that arise during production.

Budgeting and Cost Management:

- Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, ensuring that production costs are controlled and aligned with financial targets.

- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process optimization, waste reduction, and efficient use of resources.

Continuous Improvement:

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the plant to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality.

- Implement lean manufacturing practices, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to streamline operations and eliminate waste.

Supply Chain and Inventory Management:

- Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.

- Manage inventory levels to optimize working capital while meeting production needs.

Stakeholder Management:

- Liaise with senior management, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to align plant operations with broader business objectives.

- Represent the plant in meetings with external parties, including regulatory bodies and industry groups.

Reporting and Analysis:

- Prepare and present regular reports on plant performance, including production metrics, safety incidents, quality issues, and financial results.

- Analyze data to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, from only Top Engineering College

- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations, with at least 5 years in a plant management or senior leadership role.

- Strong knowledge of production management, quality control, safety standards, and lean manufacturing principles.

- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to drive performance and foster a positive work culture.

- Solid understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control.

- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

Work Environment:

- The Plant Head will primarily work in a manufacturing plant environment, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, and other industrial conditions.

- Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or site visits.
