Description/POSITION SUMMARY:


- Piramal Pharma Solutions' HPAPI Research and Manufacturing facility, located in Riverview, Michigan (Ash Stevens, LLC, hereafter referred to as PPS-Riverview), is seeking a qualified Operations & Safety Trainer to join our Production team. The Operations & Safety Trainer is responsible for developing and conducting production, cGMP and safety trainings for our Production staff. The incumbent is responsible for the team's development and evaluation in order to train and maintain the overall skills matrix of the entire Production staff.


- To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

- Shall adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, including FDA, EPA, OSHA, and related safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices.

- Identify and protect the original technical information as part of the company property.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

- Identify the individual training needs of all Chemical Operators (I-III) and Process Leads.

- Assist in developing technical training sessions and programs in the areas of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Processes), equipment, and batch processes.


- Assist in preparation of training schedules.


- Deliver training programs for every level of staff in the areas of:


- Current Good Manufacturing Processes (cGMP), including the specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

- Equipment (e.g. Reactors, pumps & hoses, Pressure Filter Dryers and filters, scrubber system and heating/cooling units, etc.).


- Batch Processes (e.g. vessel cleaning, charging liquids, solids and gases to a vessel, batch filtrations, distillations, Phase separations (cuts), pH adjustments, etc.).


- Health and Safety in conjunction with the Environment, Health and Safety function.


- Develop and maintain the onboarding process of the new operator, perform assessment and maintain records.

- Develop and maintain the skills matrix for all Chemical Operators (I-III) and Process Leads.


- Assess and report on the technical training requirements of all Production staff.


- Evaluate the effectiveness of all training initiatives and implement changes as necessary.


- Keep the training records of Production staff up to date.


- Advise production leadership team on current and projected staff capabilities.


- Contribute to the development and reviewing of SOPs, technical manuals and safety procedures.


- Perform batch making activities as per business requirements, as needed.


- Participate in opportunities to develop industry relevant production and training knowledge base.


- Assist the Production Supervisors in keeping the shifts in compliance with cGMP and maintain safe operations 

according to Piramal Riverview's SOPs.


- Act as a Production department representative on cross-functional teams regarding efficiency projects, etc.


- Act as the Production Supervisor or Process Lead in case of a needed contingency plan or business requirement.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE.


- BS in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry strongly preferred.

- Two (2) year STEM-field diploma from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.


- Five (5) to ten (10) years' experience in a chemical laboratory or batch manufacturing environment with supervisory and training experience or


- Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in training within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.


- Leadership experience is an asset.


- Prior industrial chemical experience highly preferred with emphasis on FDA regulated environment.
