Job Title : Manager- Packaging Development - R&D


Division : SBU-PCC

Location : Mumbai


Department : Packaging Development

Travel required to : Digwal & Bethlehem


Degree of travel : 20%

Role of department in realizing the vision : Role of the development department is to develop primary/secondary/tertiary packaging material for protecting the product in terms of quality.


Purpose of Job : The incumbent will be responsible for driving development in packaging material. Incumbent will be responsible for process improvement in the packaging process line and ensure cost effective packaging solution to reduce customer complaints.


Key Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Deliverables :


1) Conceptualization/Exploration of multiple workable packaging concept based on needs/wants for pharmaceuticals dosage forms.


2) Identifying potential products and approval on business case & commercial buy-in.


3) Ensure development of prototype/representative samples.


Essential Qualifications : Science/Engineering/Pharmacy graduate with Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging from IIP or B-Tech in Packaging Technology from IIP, Mumbai or any other reputed Institute/University

Experience: 10-12 Years


Key Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Deliverables :

1. Conceptualization/Exploration of multiple workable packaging concept based on needs/wants for pharmaceuticals dosage forms.


2. Identifying potential products and approval on business case & commercial buy-in.


3. Ensure development of prototype/representative samples


4. Feasibility of concept including machine suitability, materials, costing etc.


5. Ensuring stability/machine/customer trials & clearance for Commercialization


6. Successful Commercialization of packaging projects at manufacturing location


7. Project tracking on ongoing basis to ensure compliance to defined project timelines such as stability, moudling, manufacturing and Commercialization.


8. Leading the team of new product packaging development to ensure timely delivery of packaging documents and artworks.


9. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive speed, manage cost and quality


10. To collaborate with cross-functional department like SCM, QA, RA & Production for execution of packaging projects.


11. To collaborate with external laboratories/Institute for research and development activity of new packaging material.


12. Proficient with CAD and or Solid works


13. Develop, update and archive component technical drawings and specifications, work with QC team across sites on educating and updating of these critical QC release parameters that impact packaging line performances.


14. Develop, modify and implement SOP's defining product development process based on best industry practices.


15. Develop prototype to production life cycle management documentation.


16. Develop, modify and implement component classification based on product contact / criticality with Regulatory and QA's help and define validation activity needed for each category of components.


17. Development and qualification of a wide range of primary and secondary packaging solutions are met for the needs for brand aesthetics.


18. Work with QA on vendor validation and qualification across multiple internal sites and CMO's


19. Work with marketing, Sales team and Supply chain on establishing feasibility of new packaging initiatives


20. Work closely with Process development group in identifying the new components for IA products.


21. Work closely with packaging teams across the sites to understand the pain areas and help improve packaging processes
