LOOKING FOR A THOUGHTFUL, SKILLED, PASSIONATE LEADER TO FURTHER WESTBRIDGE CAPITAL- S PHILANTHROPY

WestBridge Capital, founded in 2000, is a highly experienced investment firm that focusses primarily on investments in India. It seeks to partner with some of India's most promising midsize companies run by outstanding entrepreneurs and management teams, for the long term. The WestBridge team has a long-standing track record of leading investments and has served on the boards of many of these companies, actively participating in setting strategic direction for these businesses.

Sumir Chadha and Sandeep Singhal are the Managing Partners for WestBridge Capital.

The Position

Over the last several years, WestBridge Capital has supported several Indian non-profit organizations with financial grants, in domains ranging from education and health to sports and child protection.

WestBridge seeks to recruit a dynamic, thoughtful, and skilled leader to:

Grow and structure their philanthropic footprint in India

Engage WestBridge colleagues and employees in structured volunteering with grantee and other organizations

Shape the philanthropy of investee companies

Build a culture of generosity within WestBridge and its stakeholders

Create impact measurement metrics for WestBridge grantees

Experience

- The leader should be a person who has deep passion for the social sector - someone who understands the constituents of the social sector ecosystem, and is able to thrive in a small team of high calibre, high pedigree investment professionals. Somebody who signs up to bring the rigour and depth of WestBridge Capital's investment practice into its philanthropic work.

- The ideal individual is likely to have outstanding academic and professional affiliations, and at least 8 years of overall experience, including 3 years of direct grant-making experience. S/he must have worked independently as well as collaboratively, and managed diverse stakeholders.

Competencies

Execution excellence: the individual must have the ability to work closely with WestBridge's Partners to identify and create opportunities to engage with outstanding non-profit organizations as a donor, while building rigorous metrics to measure impact.

Communication: the individual must be a capable communicator; with the ability to influence senior internal teams within the organization as well as investee companies to align and execute the overall philanthropy strategy of the organization, as well as to orchestrate employee engagement.

Relationship builder: the individual should be able to build a strong set of relationships with existing and potential grantee organizations; and have the respect and support of their colleagues across functions

Personal characteristics: the individual must be well connected in the sector, and externally oriented; an entrepreneurial self-starter and collaborator with high energy, and a strong drive for excellence in outcomes.

Location

The incumbent will be based in Bangalore.
