Broad Objectives of the role :

Drive efficient operations for all warehouses across the country. Provide requisite primary transport infrastructure and service for smooth flow of RM/PM/FG across the country.

Area of responsibility :

1. Translate the business and Supply chain strategy to critical priorities (warehouse infrastructure, coverage, primary transportation network, technology) for warehousing & primary transport function to be delivered over 1 -2 years.

2. Develop the warehouse (management, expansion) and primary transportation (coverage, efficiency, effectiveness, and cost) strategy; create a roadmap for deployment with clear milestones and drive its implementation.

3. Warehouse Management :

- Develop the SOPs, processes, templates to enable identification & management of warehouse operations in line with PVMI goals and objectives.

- Review and refine processes to improve efficiencies/ performance of the warehouse partners by analyzing performance, cost and quality results delivered by warehouses.

- Define the role, performance deliverables, technology requirements, inventory norms, compliance requirements, SLAs and communicate it to concerned partners.

- Evaluate, assess and map warehouse vendors for service quality, utilization, and efficiency in operation. Lead the 3rd party vendor selection and contracting efforts for PVMI.

- Drive compliance and adherence to all norms, procedures, and SLAs.

- Review performance of warehouse partners against defined SLAs. Track deviations to norms/ SLA, conduct analysis to determine root cause and initiate corrective action where needed.

- Resolve escalations related to problems pertaining to Warehouses.

- Identify improvement opportunities (process, people, cost, and technology) to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of warehouses.

- Set necessary measurement and tracking mechanisms to monitor warehouse performance and use it to generate necessary insights to enhance performance.

4 Primary Transportation :

- Examine existing primary transportation model on a regular basis for efficiency, effectiveness and identify areas for improvement/ innovation.

- Identify, evaluate and recommend new models for transportation to support the realization of PVMI strategy/ goals.

- Set the necessary processes, procedures, templates to track the performance of primary transporters.

- Evaluate, assess and select transport vendors in line with required service quality, utilization, and efficiency requirement.

- Build the necessary data infrastructure to gather, analyze and generate insights on transportation performance :

a) Incorporate learning into contract terms/ conditions for primary transporters.

b) Deploy necessary tools/ methods and drive its adherence.

- Define the role, performance deliverables, technology requirements, compliance requirements, SLAs and communicate it to concerned transport vendors.

- Drive adherence and compliance through regular and timely performance review and monitoring. Proactively surface issues with vendors for resolutions.

- Create necessary support mechanism to enforce the contracts and work out contingency plans to deal with exceptional cases.

5. Scan the market to identify, track and monitor rates, best practices, trends and use it to evolve negotiation and contracting strategy.

- Benchmark PVMI data with others users and use it to identify improvement opportunities.

6. Develop and nurture deep relationships with key transport vendor and promote the PVMI brand :

- Lead the efforts to build alignment and buy into improvement initiatives recommended by PVMI.

- Maintain ongoing engagement with transport vendors to support continuity of service and delivery.

7. Identify projects, initiatives to reduce the cost of operations - warehousing and transport and drive its implementation to deliver results.

8. Develop the necessary budgets for warehousing and primary transport (including the budget for growth, expansion, projects and initiatives). Monitor and track the expenses and initiatecorrective action where needed.
