Together, we deliver measurable results that disrupt the cycle of poor health. - Lack of access to health products is often a result of market failures- that is, limited or inconsistent product availability, products of poor or unverified quality, or products that are inappropriately designed or unaffordable. The term market dynamics refers to a set of skills and approaches used to evaluate access to products and then achieve consistent, sustainable access to affordable, quality-assured products by catalyzing interventions that reduce long-term demand and supply imbalances. Our work entails identifying the root causes of market failures and developing strategies to overcome these issues, thereby strengthening markets and improving product access. - The India Country Program is adding a Market Dynamics Associate to work with PATH's Market Dynamics Program as part of the Strategy and Learning team at PATH. S/he will be a member of the India Country Program, helping to expand reliable access to safe oxygen and to inform broader improvements in access to other priority maternal, newborn, and child health devices. S/he will support technical assistance activities at the national and state level in India. National level oxygen activities will include coordination of stakeholders in efforts to scale safe oxygen delivery as well as demonstrating approaches and developing a toolkit of resources to use in improving reliable access to safe oxygen delivery. At the state level, the Associate will work with the government of Uttar Pradesh, the World Bank Health Systems Strengthening Program, the Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit, and other PATH initiatives in the region to establish a state-wide strategy for increasing safe oxygen delivery. S/he will coordinate a detailed gap assessment of safe oxygen delivery and, once barriers to access are identified, the Associate will disseminate relevant tools and available resources to inform improved access. - While the majority of this position (80%) will support the aforementioned work in oxygen, the Associate will contribute to other Market Dynamics projects in the India Country Program with the remaining 20% of his/her time. Responsibilities: - Work with India Country Program leaders, Market Dynamics Program leaders, the Oxygen Project Leader, India Country Program staff involved in oxygen work, and the Program Administrator (PADM), to conduct oxygen-related project activities in India - Coordinate with project leads on other PATH India projects based in Uttar Pradesh and, when appropriate, leverage complementarity between workstreams (e.g., Acute Encephalitis Syndrome project, Leishmaniosis project). - Coordinate with external partners in India around efforts to scale safe oxygen delivery. - Conduct business, product, and market research, synthesize information and data, and communicate key insights in conversation and documentation - Provide technical assistance on state procurement practices, total cost of ownership, technical and procurement specifications development, quantification of need, and models for optimized safe oxygen delivery device deployment based on existing oxygen availability. - Help establish standardized tools and best practices for various types of oxygen market analyses/models. - Contribute to qualitative and quantitative research and analysis for global health products (vaccines, drugs, diagnostics, and medical devices) to understand the public and private market dynamics for these products in low- and middle- income countries. - Analyze and develop market intervention strategies for target markets in global health to inform decisions of governments, donors, and other stakeholders. - Provide support in managing project activities and timelines. - As assigned, coordinate and contribute to the development of new grant proposals, and the revision of existing proposals. Required skills and experience: - Graduate or post-graduate degree in business, economics, science or a related discipline with exposure to global health, life sciences, and/or business issues via coursework or work experience. - A minimum of 3 years- work experience, preferably in a consulting or business and economics focused organization. - Experience in market analytics including building, implementing, and analyzing market research studies and quantitative models to inform global or developing country decision-making, e.g., demand forecasts and impact models. - Strong analytic capability and the ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative information to generate insights and develop innovative programmatic and policy recommendations. - Demonstrated skills in balancing multiple projects and priorities. - Proven effectiveness working in a team-based environment, but capable also of working independently. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Comfort with collaborating across all levels of leadership internally and externally. - Demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure situations. - Ability and willingness to travel domestically (in India) up to approximately 25% of the time. - Experience working with healthcare products: vaccines, drugs, diagnostics, and/or medical devices (in low or lower middle-income markets preferred). - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite applications. - Personal initiative and resourcefulness. - Experience in assessing both private and public sector markets a plus.
