Operations Consultant - Large Capital Projects - Big4 Consulting Firm - Contractual Role (6-10 yrs)

Our client, a Big4 consulting firm, is working on a large transformation project for a large conglomerate. In the current module, the goal is to assess various key processes across large capital projects and recommend enhanced operational efficiency, optimised resource allocation and propose solutions that drive productivity growth in the top quartile.

The consultant will play a vital role in optimising operational efficiency, mitigating risks, and ensuring the successful execution of the project's operational aspects. The consultant's expertise will contribute to the project's overall success by aligning operational strategies with project objectives and facilitating effective coordination and collaboration among stakeholders.

Below summarises the responsibilities of the consultant:

Process Analysis and Improvement: Analyse existing operational processes, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and recommend improvements or innovative solutions to enhance performance and streamline operations

Resource Planning: Collaborate with project teams to determine resource requirements, including personnel, equipment, and materials, ensuring efficient utilisation and allocation of resources throughout the project lifecycle

Risk Management: Assess operational risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure operational continuity, minimise disruptions and maintain compliance with relevant regulations and standards

Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and monitoring mechanisms to track operational performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions as necessary

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across departments and disciplines to foster effective communication, coordination, and collaboration, ensuring alignment between operational requirements and project objectives

Change Management: Assist in managing operational changes resulting from project implementation, including process re-engineering, organisational restructuring, and technology adoption, ensuring smooth transitions and minimise disruptions

Key skills and experience needed:

- 6 to 10 years of experience and strong knowledge of project management principles and methodologies, with a focus on operations and large capital projects

- Proficiency in operational analysis, process improvement, and change management techniques

- Knowledge of working with project management software such as Primavera (or equivalent) and tools for planning, monitoring, and reporting on operational activities w.r.to monitor project expenses, track costs, and manage the budget to avoid cost overruns, seeking opportunities for cost savings or value engineering

- Strong knowledge of labour productivity indices for various tradecrafts involved in large/mega capital projects

- Strong knowledge of Contractor Management of various contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers involved in the construction project

- Knowledge of Resource Allocation (labor, equipment, and materials) efficiencies to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of project milestones

- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices

- Strong knowledge of on-site supervision and coordination of construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations & quality standards

This is a contractual opportunity and will be on an initial 3-month contract with a high possibility of extension. There are two project locations for this role - Delhi or Mumbai. The selected consultant would be required to be based out of either one of these locations and will also be expected to travel extensively to client's site.
