Overview (Purpose/Objective):

- The Specialist operates as part of the Operations Management & Analytics team and supports all aspects of developing, maintaining, and improving staff planning and performance management processes. Candidate is responsible for producing and governing all inputs to management tools and plans such as time standards and resource metrice.

- Regularly produces forecasts, capacity and staffing plans, decision support analysis, and other reports to provide management with actionable information to be used to efficiently direct resources. The analyst supports business improvement and strategic projects with analysis and tools such as simulations.

- Candidate is also expected to design tools and enhancements through consultation, process studies, and analysis and s/he is responsible for forecast accuracy, resource utilization, on-time delivery of solutions.

- Partners with supported operations teams to design solutions, gather and apply business intelligence to ongoing plans, and to consult on performance. Need to interact with all levels of the business to accomplish goals.

Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities:

Developing solutions

- Consult with supported teams, shared services such as reporting, information technology, finance, and management to understand current and future-state processes.

- Develop and demonstrate substantial expertise in multiple areas of focus within the supported business related to performance and capacity management with particular knowledge and control of what may impact planning inputs.

- Investigate through interview, time study, and other standard methods.

- Develop supporting documentation and data sets.

- Develop standards such as time standards for performance management.

- Design, test, and improve planning and performance tools or reports.

- Proposes and gains acceptance on solutions to solve strategic, tactical, structured, and unstructured business problems e.g. identifying demand drivers and address ways to reduce demand.

- Evaluates or develops tools, methodologies or infrastructure to support long-term business problems and take the group to the next level (e.g., data-mining methodologies, data and system requirements, scoring process, optimization).

Directing and delivering solutions

- Achieve distinct results in a complex matrix environment & to influence action without direct authority through collaborative, consultative approach & strong relationship building skills.

- Regular delivery of solutions such as monthly capacity plans and annual resource plans for budget planning.

- Create simulations or other decision support tools as part of major improvement projects and operational or strategic planning.

- Continually improves processes.

Communication and coordination

- Direct and frequent contact with users of products such as associates, managers, directors, and project managers.

- Direct and regular contact with sponsors and senior management to develop goals, conduct planning, and discuss performance.

- Direct and frequent contact with operations reporting team and other supporting services.

- Coordinate with project managers operating in the supported areas of the business.

- Collaborate with team members to successfully deliver solutions.

- Recurring contact with high-level stakeholders.

Experience and Qualifications:

- Candidate must have Masters in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related degree with a high quantitative component and an excellent academic record. Experience of 6+ years. Improving processes, or implementing management solutions in a high-performance organization.

- Experience with basic analytics, ability to learn advanced process thinking and data analytics

- Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail.

- Expert spreadsheet skills. Experience creating macros highly desired.

- Basic knowledge and practical experience with statistics.

- Business acumen.

- Attention to detail and quality.

- Intellectual flexibility and practical problem-solving experience. Can differentiate between “good enough” and “need improvement”.

- Ability to work in teams.

- Ability to work with minimum supervision, maintain deadlines, and communicate problems.

- Must be able to take the initiative to achieve goals, operating in the absence of direction.

- Time and project management skills for a multi-task environment.

- High communication skills: good listening, interpersonal, speaking, and written skills.

- Strong general PC skills, including business email and documentation.

Preferred

- Intermediate skills with statistical software.

- Business experience or other practical experience building or maintaining simulation models.

- Ability with databases such as Access.

- Prior experience with any or all of the following: demand planning, capacity planning, supply chain management, process engineering.

- Experience with cost control, profit & loss.

- Subject matter experience in some decision sciences areas (demand planning, time-series forecasting methods, staff planning, decision-making, optimization, simulations, scheduling, advanced measurement techniques, and deep-dive strategic analysis).
