Operation Research - Airlines Analytics

Important Note: candidate has to be PhD in OR with relevant experience in airlines analytics

GENERAL SUMMARY: This position works in the Operation research discipline based projects for Airlines Industry, consulting and works with teams in India and Onsite for successful execution of projects. The position is also responsible for high-end consulting and pre-sales work in the area of advanced OR modeling (Flight operations, Crew operations areas). In this role, candidate will work with other team members and clients on advanced Linear/Non-linear programming solution areas. He/she will have to strategize OR solution, lead the teams into getting it executed and champion data driven insights for Airlines Industry. His charter will include performing advanced analysis in forecasting and simulation areas that help detect patterns/possibilities and optimized results for business actions. The role will require to co-develop solutions in flight ops and crew ops areas with one of leading airlines clients

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work very closely with our client's business users to elicit clear requirements and also guide them to best in class requirements in flight Ops and Crew ops areas

- High end consulting, OR modeling, business requirement understanding, Client facing and interaction

- Conceptualize, Design and manage statistical modeling and data analytics related projects.

- Conceptualize modeling framework, define data requirements, create predictive variables, and coordinate model implementation with other business partners.

- Leverage state-of-the-art OR tools and modeling techniques to solve business problems.

- Lead the team in preparing documentation for developed models and provide analysis support for business strategies.

- Demonstrate leadership by successfully managing medium/large sized analytics projects

- Use analytics to provide business recommendations to senior management

- Provide guidance and help develop more junior associates

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Education/Training

M.Sc., MS, M.Tech or MA in Mathematics, OR or other related fields with emphasis in quantitative methods. MBA and Ph.D. is a plus.

Experience

- Expertise with Linear and Non-Linear programming (Heuristic as well as non-heuristic OR techniques)

- Expertise with multiple statistical/forecasting and Optimization tools.

- Minimum 10 to 15 years post academic work experience performing applied OR techniques. 5+ years of them has to be in Airlines Industry

- Must be able to demonstrate a pattern of success in using advanced quantitative analytic methods to solve business problems
