OLYK - is a direct-to-consumer music school that connects students from across the world to the best music teachers in India. We are a school, not a marketplace. OLYK auditions, onboards and trains all our teachers on our curriculum and class structure. The quality of our classes and teachers is of paramount importance. Our students reside in North America and the UK. Our typical student profile is a child between the ages of 5-13 who loves music and would like to go experiment with a vocal or instrument class. We offer a wide range of genres and instruments including western-pop, classical, rock, soul, hindustani classical, bollywood, carnatic, the guitar, ukulele and the keyboard.

Teacher community manager and evangelist: The teacher community manager is ultimately responsible for building and harnessing the best group of music-teachers that OLYK can take to the rest of the world. Our teachers are at the centre of our experience; our success depends on the caliber of our teachers and pedagogy. We're looking for someone who can lead identification, screening, onboarding, training of the best teachers in the country with one unrelenting goal: to provide the best class experience for children interested in music.

This person will own:

Class quality, teacher hiring and training are the three critical components of this role for the next 6 months.

Class quality:

- Demo quality - ensuring top demo quality is of primary importance for this role. The KPIs are clear: demo-to-customer (DTC) conversion. We need to keep improving this conversion from a baseline metric of 50%. Every demo must be watched with feedback clearly captured and shared with the teacher community. KPI - demo-to-customer (DTC) conversion

- Regular classes quality - the same approach as the above but for our regular customers. These classes needed to be closely monitored and improved upon to ensure students are happy, engaged and renewing. KPI - student renewals

Teacher <> parent engagement:
 
- Feedback - feedback sharing with teachers and students is vital to ensure both parties are constantly improving. Feedback sharing is also seen as a high-touch, caring and collaborative experience that parents thoroughly appreciate. We must send out feedback at regular intervals to ensure we are in touch with parents and keeping them engaged. We must ask for feedback as well.

- Addressing parent and student concerns - teachers must be prepped on how to engage parents on their concerns, questions, feedback and upselling.

Curriculum and pedagogy:

- Curriculum must be constantly optimized for students- needs. Based on whether we have a casual fan or a super fan, curriculum must be tweaked and personalized accordingly. Constant feedback from students and parents must be incorporated into down the road personalization.

- Curriculum must be fun and engaging. Critical to maintain a fine balance between theory, music foundation and practical application. Gamification and tangible markers of progress must be incorporated.

Owning the class experience :

- Optimizing demo conversion - this is a key success metric for this role. Gamification and ensuring engagement in the demo experience is of paramount importance and owned by this role.

- The community manager - must be the thought leader in delivering the best class experience and that means he/she is watching several class videos posted across the web to get inspiration on best practices and share with our community e.g. Outschool classes; this person must also speak to teachers across a broad spectrum to understand and codify their best practices.

- Capture and disseminate best practices during class and student engagement - the community manager must capture insights and disseminate in a scalable manner. This is critical. Inability to disseminate learnings in a scalable manner will be a huge failure of this position. Every conversation and learning must be recorded and/or documented for future teachers to tap into.

- Hiring, onboarding and training teachers - you are responsible for high quality and adequate supply/teachers to match our student requirements.

Lead auditioning and closure :

- We have several teacher leads flowing in everyday. You will own the process of vetting leads, screening/auditioning, scoring and closing commercials with teachers

- Training and onboarding - you will own the onboarding process for new teachers. They need to be very comfortable with our systems, scheduling, demos, feedback, regular classes, parent engagement, escalation etc. processes.

Specific responsibilities:

- Watch all demo and class videos and share feedback with all stakeholders

- Keep optimizing on the class experience to improve conversion metrics

- Weed out poor converters or bad actors from the teaching community; reward top performers with more classes, incentives and recognition

- Constantly speak to teachers and musicians outside OLYK to pick on best practices; watch class videos across different subjects for inspiration

- Coordinate various faculty searches and maintain a faculty search database.

- Assist in screening and selecting faculty applications.

- Manage orientation and training for new faculties.

- Provide support and guidance to academic trainees.

- Collaborate with faculty to conduct workshops and competitions

- Assist in managing schedule, instructional supplies, communication for workshops and other study programs.

- Develop and manage a comprehensive academic support program.

- Provide guidance to students on academic goals and educational issues.

- Assist students on course selection, study habits and career selection.

- Work with parents, teachers and counselors to address students- behavioral, academic, and other problems.

- Assist in updating lesson content and instruction methodology.

- Assist in development of training modules and programs.

- Coordinate with teachers and develop lesson plans and materials.
