OLA - Head - Policy Advocacy & Communications (10-18 yrs)

Key Responsibilities:

- You will be an integral part of the OMI team that informs policymaking, and advances discourse on Shared, Connected, Electric, AI-powered and Autonomous Mobility, and Platform Economy in India and elsewhere. Your scope of work includes 

A. Head and provide strategic direction/ advice on policy communications and public advocacy: As the Head of Advocacy and Communications you will work in partnership with all OMI research tracks to achieve research and policy goals by:

- Developing and coordinating the execution of advocacy and communications strategies;

- Leveraging leadership and OMI's voice to implement advocacy strategies;

- Developing and managing KoLs/advisors/policy influencers dedicated to achieving issue-specific policy and financing outcomes;

- Directly advocating with sector leaders, influencers, media and government officials

- Leading issue-specific communications;

- Developing policy recommendations or proposals in partnership with research tracks teams and strategic partners;

- Serve as an advocacy leader in the organization by being a thought partner to research and business teams;

- Build strong cross organizational partnerships and influence by serving as the OMI representative on multiple leadership teams;

- Develop and manage the advocacy and communications budget.

B. Lead the development of strategic partnerships for communications, research & public advocacy:

- Develop and maintain partnerships for communications and collaboration around overarching issues of national/ international significance; ensure that mobility-related and platform-economy-related issues are positioned and opportunities are leveraged in this context;

- Develop partnerships with the research organisations, multilateral organisations, businesses, media, industry associations and civil society to enhance public awareness on OMI's research and policy mandate, looking at opportunities for strategic engagement, advocacy and editorial collaboration;

- Direct and manage engagement OMI's goals in the context of campaigns and events; plan and prepare public events and ensure that messaging is in line with the OMI's strategic advocacy priorities.

Required Attributes and Qualifications:

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

- Master's degree (or equivalent) in one or more of the following disciplines: communications, public policy, international development, social studies, and other related fields.

- 10+ years of management experience in strategic communications, public policy and advocacy, preferably, within research organisation/think tank, corporate public policy and government relations, public administration, law firm, trade associations or non-governmental organisations or international/ multilateral organisations;

- Experience in leading and managing multicultural teams.

Functional Competencies:

- Proven knowledge and expertise in leading strategic communications at the international level;

- Proven ability to conceptualise and implement communications & advocacy strategies and campaigns;

- Excellent knowledge of news media and media relations; digital media and other communications channels and proven ability to apply these for effective outreach;

- Proven ability to develop partnerships for communications & advocacy;

- Outstanding written and oral communications and editing skills; proven ability to position issues effectively, both orally and in writing;

- Demonstrated skill in effectively managing teams and creating an enabling working environment;

- Familiarity with transportation/ mobility/ platform economy/digital economy/ public policy/ and associated topics, an added advantage;

- Extensive knowledge of legislative and administrative processes.
