Program Director, Asia Region
Location Any of the core countries in Asia- Dhaka (Bangladesh)/ Islamabad (Pakistan)/ Jakarta (Indonesia)/ New Delhi (India)

Overall Purpose/Broad Function :
- This new position is overall responsible for managing a portfolio of NI donor funded projects and for supporting new business development opportunities, primarily institutional fundraising in Asia.
- Reporting to the Regional Director, with a matrix relationship to the BD Director in Ottawa, and working closely with NI country teams, the position holder will also support the enhanced capacity of Country Office staff to manage new grants to grow the scale and scope of NI's impact and influence in the region.
- Ensure the smooth start up of new country or regional donor funded projects, ensuring staffing and procurement plans are in place and implemented.
- In coordination with Finance, ensure budgets are tracked monthly and that spending is on track and complies with donor rules; highlight risks/issues promptly and put in place mitigation measures.
- Monitor progress against milestones and objectives, budgets, and results, ensure high quality donor reports are submitted on time.
- Ensure MEAL plans are followed, and monitoring data informs decision making.
- Ensure the effective transition or closure of grants that are ending, ensuring NI complies with contractual obligations.
- Maximize programmatic and operations learning from projects by proactively setting up webinars, information sessions and/or workshops.
- Working with the Deputy Regional Directors and CDs, prepare proposal submissions by: writing submissions and coordinating the overall process, including the writing and submission at the Asia regional level and for countries in the region.
- Manage the relationships, negotiation, and contributions of NI in new consortiums and as members of strategic alliances along with Country Directors and other Regional staff. Proactively manage the risks and communications with all stakeholders of the consortium including donors.
- Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with current and potential new donors at regional and country levels along with Country Directors and other senior regional staff by strengthening proactive engagement and communication with donors.
Education/Professional Designations/Experience:
- Degree (Master's level preferred) in a relevant area, such as International Development, MBA, MPA etc.
- Experience of working for or with an international and/or non-governmental organization in similar field.
- At least 15 years relevant experience with an international development organization (NGO, UN, World Bank, managing contractors or similar) in more than one country in Asia.
- Current knowledge of development issues, strategies, as well as programming policies and procedures in international development.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan, and execute ideas, as well as to impart knowledge and help develop skills.
- Excellent writing ability and presentation skills
