Senior Manager - Accounts
Job Summary:
- The Senior Manager - Accounts will lead the accounting operations of the company across India, Australia, and New Zealand.
- This role is central to ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, efficient management of the company's financial resources, and continual improvement of systems and processes.
- The position is critical for a jewellery manufacturing company engaged in international trade, as it involves handling complex transactions related to exports and imports, and leveraging technology for process enhancements.
- The Senior Manager - Accounts will oversee the integration of financial strategies and operations across these regions, ensuring consistency and compliance with local and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Indian GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting standards applicable in Australia and New Zealand.
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns, including GST, TDS, and Income Tax in India, as well as equivalent tax obligations in Australia and New Zealand.
- Manage any related audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure clean and timely year-end audits across all regions.
- Oversee the preparation of financial reports specific to foreign trade, including shipping bills, bills of entry, and other export-import documentation relevant to India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor and manage the company's cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations across all regions.
- Forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual cash requirements and arrange for necessary financing.
- Optimize banking arrangements and manage relationships with financial institutions in multiple countries.
Budgeting & Cost Management:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor actual performance against the budget across India, Australia, and New Zealand.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures to enhance the company's profitability in all operational regions.
- Review and approve all expenditures, ensuring alignment with the company's financial strategies.
Accounts Receivable & Payable Management:
- Oversee the management of accounts receivable and payable across India, Australia, and New Zealand, ensuring timely collections and payments.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company's assets in all operating countries.
- Implement best practices in accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy across different regions.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting teams, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
System and Process Improvement:
- Lead initiatives to analyze and enhance current systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement in all regions.
- Implement changes to streamline operations, improve data accuracy, and increase efficiency.
- Work closely with the IT department to develop and deploy automated solutions for routine tasks.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial reporting standards (Indian GAAP, IFRS, and local standards of Australia and New Zealand).
- Excellent knowledge of tax regulations, including GST, TDS, and Income Tax, particularly as they apply to the export and import of goods, and understanding of the tax obligations in Australia and New Zealand.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment across different time zones.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience with process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Strong organizational and team management skills, particularly in a multinational context.
Qualifications:
- CA (Chartered Accountant) with 5 years plus of relevant experience.
- Prior experience in the jewellery manufacturing industry or in a company involved in international trade is highly desirable.
- Experience in managing or coordinating financial teams across multiple regions, especially in India, Australia, and New Zealand.
