NAM Accounting Lead

Job Purpose:

With the recent agreement with Controllers to migrate accounting activities and transfer ownership and accountability to FRSS we need more Controllers and FP&A type skill sets to execute on this expectation. Senior controller roles are migrated to FRSS Mumbai which needs to be highly analytical with broader interactions with Accounting Policy, Senior Controllers, Product Control, Operations and various business units in countries and region.

This is a critical role from overall Finance Transformation initiative to maximize the migration of activity from respective country/countries to FRSS.

The role requires knowledge of both ICG and GCG products. He/She will be responsible for the preparation and review of complex accounting transactions

Job Background / Context:

Finance & Risk Shared Services (FRSS) is a part of Shared Services (CSS) and is responsible for delivering financial, regulatory and risk reporting solutions to all of businesses and regions through four global service centers, located strategically in Tampa (USA), Manila (Philippines), Mumbai (India) and San Jose (Costa Rica). FRSS is a key business partner to Finance as well as the Risk organization.

The NAM Accounting Lead is a strategic position within FRSS designed in partnership with Finance to ensure core accounting functions are performed to support Regional Finance and execution of Core Financial Reporting Processes.

The role offers opportunity to manage a wide range of accounting, reporting and analytical tasks, and projects.

Critical Duties and Responsibilities

Governance/Review/ Advisory

- Ultimate responsibility of the correctness and completeness of Accounting of events and products.

- Perform accounting advisory role in cases of new business events

- Lead Finance Transformation focused on standardization and simplification of functions

- Lead change and innovation and focus on upskilling the teams for accounting advisory functions

- Other end to end accountability, which may evolve during the course of the role

Interaction

- Participate in the Country/Cluster Close (Pre, ME, Post Close Calls across stakeholder groups)

- Interacts with Accounting Policy / PCG/Control lead/Reporting lead etc at Country/Cluster level as part of the closing process

- Support Local Audits Requests

- Point of escalation for Country / Business significant issues

- This is primarily a controllership role, and requires in depth accounting and analytical acumen, and end to end accountability around the financials

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience - 

- Analytical and Financial Skills: applicant must have good understanding of the Firm's financials and ICG and GCG Product knowledge

- Understanding of business and financial drivers for Banking entities

- Communication skills: will be interacting with staff at a variety of levels, including senior audiences, on a variety of internally driven and function driven deliverables

- Organizational Skills: heavy coordination with many individuals at varying levels across the region and FRSS functions, operating with precision within limited time frames on deliverables. The individual must be highly organized and able to prioritize in an environment of change while always seeking to improve the organization and business

- Relationship Management: the position requires extensive partnership and collaboration across Finance and FRSS functions

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Experience in reporting processes or Product processing group will be an added advantage.

- Knowledge of tools- IFW/Smart/flex/DBS/CRC etc. will be an added advantage

Qualifications:

- Masters degree in finance, CA/CPA or its equivalent

- 15+ years of experience in finance in a global organization

- Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience
