Roles and Responsibilities:
- To prepare and achieve annual budget of sourcing in sync with the sales budget.
- To ensure timely supplies of raw material
- To benchmark the R.M. prices with those sourced by the competitors and negotiate the best possible prices with the vendors.
- To maintain and regularly update data bank of R.M. suppliers worldwide through online subscriptions, joining industry related associations, commodity exchanges for oleo-chemicals etc
- To formalise and monitor a proper structure for new vendor selection process.
- For all new R.M.s develop at least 3 vendors to avoid any exigencies.
- To work out price hedging for imported R.M.s in tandem with the finance team.
- To develop vendors for packing material and negotiate for competitive prices.
- Keep track of new concepts in packaging and suggest ideas for cost reduction.
- To continuously strive for reduction in R.M. cost.
- To ensure optimal inventory of stocks (chemicals as well as packing) to minimise inventory costs.
- To conduct vendor audits for key raw materials.
Requirements of the position:
- A person with minimum 8 - 10 years of experience in sourcing of specialty chemicals locally as well as imports (NATCHEMs as well as PETCHEMs)
- The person should be a commercial Graduate/Post Graduate.
- Any Diploma/degree in materials management or SCM is desirable.
- He / she must be able to negotiate effectively with the vendors.
- The person must be result oriented and agile.
- Should be able to work under strict time limits.
