MSCI - Equity Data Operations Specialist

Responsibilities - 

- Work with both projects and production team for managing new initiatives and ongoing operations respectively

On projects front, the candidate must be able to:

- Understand the existing business process and data workflow by interacting with process owners as well as IT. 

- Help propose end state solution with the project team while striving to improve quality controls, provide KPI metrics for management and increase scalability in consultation with process owners

- Coordinate with process owners and project management team to drive implementation

- Ongoing contribution in enhancing existing content, systems & applications

- On the production front, the candidate must be able to: Daily/monthly operations involving processing & quality checking of reference, market and fundamental data for MSCI covered securities universe

- Researching the data issues and corporate events at security level using vendor data and publicly available information

- Interact with vendors and other providers for collection of raw data and derived data for usage

- Update and conduct extensive quality assurance on our financial database. Coordinating and working with Global delivery teams to resolve the data issues

Desired experience and qualifications:

- Experience in researching equity markets

- Experience in working with global vendors will be a plus (Reuters, Interactive Data, Factset etc.)

- Good understanding of Software development life cycle and exposure to deploying business process change. Prefer candidates with working knowledge of any one programming/scripting language (Python, VB Script, Java etc.)

- Good analytical skills combined with ability to manage large amount of data. Experience with SQL and advance excel preferred

- Excellent communication skills (both written and presentation)

- Self-starter and drive to work in individual capacity with minimum oversight. Should be creative/ innovative in approach while upholding team dynamics

- Operate in a multinational and multicultural environment

- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience

- Master degree in Finance from premier institute (including equivalents CFA, CA, FRM) or engineering degree with a solid experience in finance
