Your team responsibilities

MSCI is a leading provider of investment decision support tools to clients worldwide, ranging from large pension plans to boutique hedge funds. We offer a range of products and services - including indexes, portfolio risk and performance analytics - through several internationally recognized brands MSCI, Barra, RiskMetrics, Real Estate, ESG, etc.

Quality & Process Transformation (QPT) is responsible for data quality management, establishing best practices for data management as well as governance of ESG Data. QPT is a cross functional team working with operations, technology, research and product teams to handle a variety of projects including new data acquisition, data onboarding, establishing data QA methodologies, analysis of ESG data sets, automation of manual processes/calculations, data model design, etc.

We leverage data science in variety of applications across different projects including

- Anomaly Detection

- Text data processing for entity recognition / extraction

- Working with Tabular data for extraction automation

- Document processing for classification (relevance) and disclosure detection

- Text sentiment analysis

- Image data processing

Team is also responsible for building and deploying solutions end to end , starting with problem statement understanding, conducting hypothesis testing (prototype/POCs), building final solution, back testing, working with operations team on hand over/adoption, deployment of solutions as service, working with Technology teams to integrate solutions to existing processes/applications

Your key responsibilities :

- Co-designing data science solutions with other teams and partners.

- Experimenting in complex problems and datasets, often using machine learning.

- Storytelling about your findings for different audiences, often with data visualization.

- Creating conduits for data that unite different teams together.

- Building software-based tools around your work.

- Successfully manage full life-cycle data science projects with multiple stakeholders

- Your skills and experience that will help you excel

- Specific expertise in at least one of the following: machine learning/deep learning, data visualization, geospatial data analysis, natural language processing, optimization, predictive modeling, or causal inference (experience in scikit. pytorch, tensorflow a plus)

- Statistical expertise

- Data visualization (Tableau, d3, Processing, or p5.js a plus)

- Building data services (flask, fastapi, or django a plus)

- Working with SQL databases (postgres a plus)

- Distributed computing (spark, hadoop, dask, or pathos a plus)

- Unit testing, CI/CD pipleine

- Experienced using at least one web framework, version control tools, linux systems, bash scripting, and using containerization such as Docker

- Knowledge to write server-side APIs and using client-side APIs

- Proficient with AWS/Google Cloud / Azure (one of these would be a plus)

- Ability to implement database solutions including SQL, NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB).

- Fluent in data science technology stack including: R/Python, SQL, Postgres, AWS, etc.
